Is HPV18 positive in men serious?

HPV18 virus can occur in both men and women, but if it occurs in male patients, for men, the removal of breast tissue will not have much impact, but for female friends, it will make patients lose confidence. However, when male patients test positive for HPV18, you should not panic. You should check the severity of the disease. If it is a mild HPV18 infection, chemotherapy can effectively kill the bacteria.

Disease impact/Effects of HPV positivity on the male reproductive system

Human papillomavirus (HPV) grows and reproduces well on the surface of the human body, in moist and hot mucous membranes and skin. Male genital candidiasis is mostly caused by infection from their spouse or sexual partner, or indirect infection. In addition, some patients have foreskin that is too long or phimosis, which makes the local area moist, aggravating the infection of candida.

Foreign scholars have confirmed that the incidence of Candida balanitis in married men is 14.63%; if the male glans is tested by culture, the Candida positive detection rate is as high as 49%; a survey of 138 male patients with Candida balanitis found that 23.9% of their female sexual partners suffered from Candida vaginitis.

At present, the research in this field mainly focuses on women, while there are few reports on HPV latent infection in men, and its epidemiological characteristics are not very clear. Generally speaking, the impact of HPV on the male reproductive system is mainly condyloma acuminatum and genital herpes.

Effects on the female reproductive system

Certain HPV types are classified as "high-risk" because they cause cell mutations and can lead to cancers of the reproductive organs: cervical cancer, vaginal cancer, anal cancer, and penile cancer can all be caused by HPV.

In fact, researchers say that these high-risk HPV types are responsible for more than 99 percent of all cervical cancers. The high-risk latent HPV types are HPV 16 and HPV 18, and these types cause approximately 70 percent of cervical cancers.

If the body clears the infection, the cervical cancer cells can return to normal values. However, if the body does not clear the infection, the normal cells in the cervix may continue to differentiate abnormally. This may lead to precancerous changes or develop into cervical cancer.

Impact on the fetus

Generally speaking, HPV infection usually parasitizes the nerve roots and skin layer of the perineum, and generally does not cause disseminated infection or invade the blood system, so it will not cause any impact on the fetus. The biggest impact and harm to the fetus may still be during delivery, when the disease may be transmitted to the child through the birth canal. Therefore, you should pay attention to the delivery situation, and it is recommended to choose a cesarean section under the guidance of a doctor.
