Blood in sperm

Blood in sperm

Sperm is the reproductive cell of men. The health of sperm is related to whether men can conceive and whether their offspring are healthy. By observing their sperm, men can also know whether they have male diseases, which is also very helpful for men to prevent male diseases. What if blood is found in sperm? Let's learn about it with the editor today.

Blood in semen, also known as hematospermia, is a common disease in urology. The main cause of hematospermia is the contraction of the male when reaching orgasm and the relaxation after ejaculation, which causes the pressure of the seminal vesicle to change rapidly, and the capillaries on the cyst wall are damaged, causing bleeding or capillary permeability changes and bleeding. Some patients can recover to normal after a few months.

The most common reasons for blood in semen are prostatitis and seminal vesiculitis. The seminal vesicle is connected to the posterior urethra through the ejaculatory duct. Since the walls of the seminal vesicle are thin, once they become inflamed and congested, the walls of the vesicles filled with blood vessels are prone to bleeding. Prostatitis is a common disease in men. Inflammation of the prostate gland can easily affect the adjacent seminal vesicles and cause bleeding in the seminal vesicles. The secretion of the seminal vesicle is one of the main components of semen. Bleeding of the seminal vesicles stains the secretion with blood. When it is discharged from the body with the semen, blood in semen is produced.

Other causes of blood in semen:

1. Teenagers’ semen may contain blood temporarily. This is a normal physiological reaction. Since men are in adolescence, they are in the stage of sexual development and have strong sexual desire. There is nothing to be alarmed about if there is blood in the semen. Many cases can heal themselves without treatment.

2. Blood in semen may also be caused by seminal vesicle cysts, tuberculosis, tumors, schistosomiasis, portal hypertension, systemic blood system diseases, etc. This requires patients to pay more attention and requires systematic treatment to achieve a cure.
