Benefits of holding the fist for the kidneys

The kidney is a very important part of our body, especially for men. The health of the kidney will have a direct impact on the couple's life. For some people with not very good kidneys, it is very important to nourish the kidney. In addition to the commonly used moxibustion and medicinal food to nourish the kidney, there is another traditional way to nourish the kidney, which is to hold the fist. Holding the fist is a Taoist gesture, which is quite popular in today's society. It is also very good for nourishing the kidney and strengthening yang. Here is an explanation of the benefits of holding the fist for the kidney. I hope it works for you.

Holding the fist is a common hand posture in Taoist health cultivation. It originated from the famous Taoist Ge Hong of the Jin Dynasty, who advocated "holding the fist and keeping one's mind focused" in his book "Bao Pu Zi". It was also introduced in "Zhu Bing Yuan Zhou·Zhu Zheng of Zhong Mo Bing" by Chao Yuanfang, the imperial physician of the Sui Dynasty.

Specific methods

The specific method of holding the seal is recorded in many health-preserving exercise books. Daoshu Zhongmiao Pian says: "What is holding the seal? I pinch the lines of three fingers with my left and right thumbs, or hold the thumbs with four fingers, and use my left and right hands to support the waist and abdomen." Holding the seal means pinching the thumbs of the left and right hands on the palm-finger lines of the other three fingers, or placing them in the palms, holding them tightly with the other four fingers, and then pressing the left and right hands on the waist, abdomen or back.

The Twelve-part Dynamic Exercises in Shoushiqingbian states: "Both hands should be bent, with the two thumbs touching the base of the index fingers, and the remaining four fingers twisting the thumbs, this is called holding the hands in a fist."

The Treatise on the Origin and Symptoms of Various Diseases says: "Use four fingers of each hand to hold the thumb."

The Su Shen Liang Fang states: "Pinch the second finger's fingerprint with your thumb, or hold your thumb with all four fingers."

The Dao Men Tong Jiao Must-Have Collection states: "Pinch the middle section of the middle finger with the thumb, and bring all four fingers together in the palm of your hand."

These theories are similar, all of which involve holding the thumb between four fingers. The difference lies in which finger base the thumb tip is located at. Some believe it is the index finger, some believe it is the middle finger, and some believe it is the ring finger and the little finger. The method of holding the fist advocated in the four sets of health-preserving qigong is: clasp the thumb in the palm of the hand, with the finger tip at the base of the ring finger (the fourth finger), then bend the other four fingers, apply a little force, and hold the thumb firmly, as if holding a treasure. Why is it the base of the ring finger? The ancients believed that this is the key to the liver soul, and the theory of traditional Chinese medicine also proposes that "the liver governs holding". We see that the liver meridian qi of newborn babies is particularly sufficient. In order to protect themselves, children often instinctively clench their fists to "fix the soul". When a person's life ends, it is "the liver soul is lost and the hand is let go".

effect

From the above records of the ancestors, holding the fist helps to calm the soul and gather the essence. Therefore, it can be considered that the human body systems affected by holding the fist should be the liver meridian system and the kidney meridian system. According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, "the liver and kidney have the same origin". The liver is of the wood element, which is responsible for ascending, can vent emotions and regulate qi and blood. The liver meridian system includes the liver, gallbladder, eyes, tendons, nails and other tissues and organs. The meridians of the liver meridian system run on the side of the body. The kidney is of the water element, which is responsible for sealing and storage. It is the basis of growth and development. The kidney meridian system includes the kidney, bladder, ears, bones, hair and other tissues and organs. The meridians of the kidney meridian system run on the inside of the body. The liver meridian system and the kidney meridian system usually coordinate with each other, which can store the body's essence and distribute qi and blood. Long-term persistence can calm the mind, ward off evil spirits and prevent disease.

It can be seen that the key to maintaining good health is not to have many methods, but to persist. Why not keep your hands clenched frequently?
