Is testicular contraction normal?

The testicle is a male reproductive organ. It is located between the male's legs and is very fragile. The male testicle can produce a large number of sperm and is an important organ for male reproduction. There are two testicles on the left and right, which can stretch and shrink at will. The testicle will swell when hot and shrink when cold, and it can also move on its own. Many men have a question: Is it normal for the testicle to shrink? Let's learn about it with the editor today.

The testicles are located in the scrotum, one on each side. The testicles are slightly flattened ellipses with smooth surfaces, divided into inner and outer sides, front and back edges, and upper and lower ends. The front edge is free; the back edge has blood vessels, nerves, and lymphatic vessels entering and exiting, and is in contact with the epididymis and the lower part of the vas deferens (testis). The testicles grow rapidly with sexual maturity, and the testicles of the elderly shrink and become smaller as sexual function declines.

What does the testis look like? There is a thick fibrous membrane on the surface of the testis, called the tunica albuginea. The tunica albuginea thickens along the posterior edge of the testis and protrudes into the testis to form the septum testis. Many connective tissue septa extend from the septum testis, dividing the testicular parenchyma into many testicular lobules. The testicular lobules contain coiled seminiferous tubules, and the epithelium of the seminiferous tubules can produce sperm. The connective tissue between the tubules contains homogeneous cells that secrete male hormones. The seminiferous tubules combine to form the straight seminiferous tubules, enter the septum testis and interweave to form the rete testis. 12 to 15 testicular efferent ductules extend from the rete testis and enter the epididymis from the upper part of the posterior edge of the testis.

The testicles tend to shrink when erect, which is within a reasonable normal range. First, it is recommended that you go to a professional urologist or andrologist for a checkup, and have a bilateral testicular and epididymal ultrasound, so that you can make a clear judgment. Try to reduce abnormal erections. Drink plenty of water to promote your body's metabolism.

It is normal for the testicles to shrink when the penis is erect because the scrotal skin is also pulled and lifted when the penis is erect.
