The pros and cons of male sterilization

Nowadays, everyone tends to have a child. So after having a child, people will think of sterilization. When it comes to sterilization, everyone seems to think of female friends. In fact, male sterilization is more recommended now. Male sterilization is more convenient than female sterilization, and female sterilization is still very harmful to the body, while male sterilization is much less harmful. So what are the advantages and disadvantages of male sterilization?

What are the benefits of male vasectomy?

1. Simple and convenient

The benefits of male sterilization are that it is simpler, more convenient, safer and more reliable than female sterilization. Vasectomy is internationally recognized as a method that is simple to operate, less invasive, shorter in duration, less prone to complications and easy to popularize.

Experts point out that a typical vasectomy generally only takes 10 to 15 minutes and can be done under local anesthesia. During the operation, the doctor will make a small incision or puncture under the skin of the scrotum, and tie the two ends with thread.

No pain, no need for hospitalization. You may feel a little soreness and swelling afterwards, just apply an ice pack. You can go back to work within 24 hours and resume normal physical activities within a week. In contrast, female tubal ligation usually requires general anesthesia, the operation is more troublesome, the recovery time is longer, and there is a possibility of damage to the intestines or bladder.

2. Obvious effect

More than 99% of male sterilizations are successful, but contraception is still required within three months after the operation because it takes at least 20 ejaculations to ensure that there are no sperm residues in the vas deferens. According to statistics, the accidental pregnancy rate within one year after male sterilization is 0.4%, which is very reliable.

What are the disadvantages of male vasectomy?

The disadvantage of male sterilization is that it is often accompanied by testicular congestion and pain after the operation.

Male vasectomy only cuts off the vas deferens, without hurting the testicles. It just prevents sperm from coming out. Then, the sperm produced by the testicles will disappear and be absorbed by the accessory high or inside the testicles. Therefore, it generally does not affect the body or sexual life. However, for a small number of people, sperm and semen may be retained in the epididymis and cannot be absorbed, causing epididymal congestion, which may cause pain and discomfort. If this happens, the vas deferens can be reopened. Most people have no problem and can be vasectomized.
