What is the reason for blood in sperm?

Nowadays, people's physical condition is getting worse and worse, which leads to various diseases. Especially for male friends who are busy at work, their bodies are most likely to enter a sub-healthy state. If you find blood in your sperm, you must not ignore it. You should go to the hospital for further examination as much as possible, because this situation is likely caused by inflammation.

If there is blood in the semen, the first thing to consider is the possibility of seminal vesiculitis. Generally speaking, it is due to low resistance, and bacteria and other pathogenic microorganisms retrogradely infect during sexual intercourse, causing an inflammatory reaction. Further examination of semen and prostate fluid is needed to determine the type of pathogenic microorganisms and drug sensitivity, and then select appropriate antibiotics for continuous treatment. During the treatment period, avoid spicy food, alcohol, and seafood.

Blood in semen is called hematospermia. If the semen is all or partly light red, or coffee-colored, it is a sign of blood. Normal semen should not contain blood. The causes of hematospermia include: (1) Inflammation of the reproductive tract: such as prostatitis, seminal vesiculitis, urethritis, epididymitis, spermatic cord prostate stones, and urethral bladder stones. (2) Semen obstruction and cysts. (3) Tumors and vascular abnormalities. (4) Systemic factors: hypertension, hemophilia. (5) Reproductive tract injury.

There are five main causes of this disease: (1) Exogenous dampness, heat, heat toxins or cold dampness, which stagnate and turn into heat. The dampness, heat, fire and toxicity flow down the meridians and disturb the seminal chamber. The blood vessels in the seminal chamber are damaged, and the heat forces the blood to flow, causing both semen and blood to come out. (2) Improper diet damages the spleen and stomach, causing spleen qi deficiency and qi failure to absorb blood; or overeating spicy, fatty and sweet foods, causing dampness, heat and toxicity to be generated internally, causing heat to disturb the seminal chamber, all of which can cause hematospermia. (3) Indulging in sexual desire and excessive sexual intercourse, which leads to kidney deficiency and sperm deficiency, and failure of the function of sealing, storing and absorbing; or kidney deficiency and sperm deficiency, causing yin deficiency and excessive fire, causing the deficiency fire to disturb the seminal chamber, causing hematospermia. (4) Surgery or trauma to the genitals, the blood vessels in the sperm chamber are damaged, the blood does not return to the menstrual blood, and overflows into the sperm chamber, causing the semen and blood to mix and come out. (5) Long-term diseases of the reproductive organs do not heal, causing the vessels to stagnate, blood circulation to be blocked, and the sperm passage to become mixed with the blood, causing this disease.

1. Hematospermia and hematuria

Hematuria means there are blood clots in the urine when urinating, or red blood cells can be seen under the microscope, but there is no blood mixed with semen during ejaculation, and no red blood cells can be seen in the semen under the microscope.

2. Hematospermia and turbid semen

The main symptoms of hematospermia are white discharge from the urethra, difficulty urinating, and swelling and discomfort in the perineum. The perineum may swell or become more painful during ejaculation, but the discharged semen is white or light yellow. Microscopic examination of the semen shows that it contains a large number of white blood cells and few red blood cells. Related examinations and diagnosis of this disease can also be based on routine semen tests, which can find red blood cells in the semen. If white blood cells and pus cells appear, it is mostly caused by inflammation. If necessary, prostate fluid and urine tests, ultrasound and X-ray examinations of the urogenital system can be performed to assist in the diagnosis of the primary disease. In short, hematospermia can be diagnosed based on clinical symptoms and semen tests.
