What happens if there is no sperm?

When men reach sexual maturity, they will produce sperm, have penile erection and other secondary developments. Sperm is a manifestation of sexual maturity. Once azoospermia occurs, it means infertility, which will lead to infertility. Azoospermia means that no sperm is found in more than 3 semen tests. The causes of azoospermia are primary and secondary. The primary cause is more difficult to treat, while the secondary cause can be treated symptomatically after examination.

There are two main causes of azoospermia. One is caused by spermatogenesis dysfunction of the testicles themselves. The other is that the spermatogenesis function of the testicles is normal, but due to blockage of the vas deferens, the sperm produced by the testicles cannot be excreted from the body. This is called obstructive azoospermia.

Causes of testicular spermatogenesis dysfunction include: (1) Agnosia. (2) Bilateral cryptorchidism. (3) Congenital dysgenesis of the seminiferous ducts (also known as Kline-Felter syndrome). (4) Viral orchitis secondary to mumps, gonorrhea, syphilis, testicular tuberculosis, etc. (5) Genital injuries, such as testicular injury or torsion, spermatic cord torsion, etc., or trauma caused by hernia repair surgery or prostate surgery, can also lead to spermatogenesis dysfunction.

(6) Radiation exposure. (7) Localized hyperthermia of the testicles. (8) Consumption of crude cottonseed oil. (9) Varicose veins. (10) Hypogonadism.

The main causes of obstructive azoospermia are: ① Congenital absence of bilateral vas deferens. ② Reproductive tract damage, such as urethral damage that has not been repaired, surgical injury to the spermatic cord that has not been discovered and repaired in time, etc. ③ Reproductive system inflammation: such as epididymitis, epididymal tuberculosis, prostatitis, seminal vesiculitis, etc. can all cause vas deferens obstruction. ④ Benign seminal vesicle tumors such as seminal vesicle cysts, etc.
