Testicular discomfort but no pain when touched

Many people feel discomfort in their testicles, but it doesn't hurt when they touch them. The testicles maintain the health of men's reproductive and sexual functions, so you must find out and judge it in your life. If you can't find the cause, it's best to go to the hospital for a check-up, because only after checking the testicles can you know what the specific problem is.

Testicular discomfort but no pain when touched

First, let's take a look at the structure of the testicle. The testicle is located in the scrotum. Its main function is to secrete male hormones and produce sperm. The sperm is transported to the epididymis above the testicle, matures in the epididymis duct, and is discharged through the vas deferens.

Next, let’s introduce several common causes of “ball pain”.

1. Epididymitis and orchitis: As the name suggests, it refers to inflammation of the epididymis or testicle. The main manifestation is swelling and pain in the testicle and epididymis, which is often progressive. Touching the testicle can reveal that the epididymis is obviously swollen and there is obvious pain when pressing. If the scrotum is lifted at this time, the pain of some patients can be relieved. Under color Doppler ultrasound, inflammation of the epididymis, testicle and spermatic cord can be found. This pain is caused by inflammation, which may be caused by urinary tract infection. It can be cured through regular anti-inflammatory treatment and local physical therapy.

2. Testicular torsion: Testicular rotation affects the blood supply of the testicular artery to the testicle, causing acute testicular ischemia. This "pain in the balls" is the most important thing to pay attention to. This disease is common in adolescents, especially when the body position changes rapidly, such as turning over in the middle of the night, or standing up quickly from a squatting position or sitting position. It manifests as sudden severe testicular pain. The epididymis and testicles may not be obviously swollen. Lifting the scrotum will not relieve the pain. Color Doppler ultrasound may reveal a decrease or even disappearance of testicular blood flow. In this case, immediate medical attention is required, because as time goes by, testicular ischemia worsens and may lead to testicular necrosis. However, if the diagnosis is confirmed within a short period of time and surgical reduction and fixation are performed, the impact on testicular function will be relatively small.

3. Prostatitis: Some prostatitis, or "chronic pelvic discomfort syndrome, CPPS", may also cause testicular discomfort due to the distribution of pelvic nerves, but this discomfort is mostly soreness and dull pain, rarely obvious pain. There will be no obvious abnormalities when touching the testicles or color Doppler ultrasound examinations, and the symptoms will disappear after the prostatitis is cured.

4. Testicular rupture caused by trauma: There is a clear history of trauma, the testicles will be extremely painful and painful when touched. Color Doppler ultrasound can detect signs of rupture. In this case, if the symptoms are obvious, surgical exploration and testicular repair or removal of comminuted testicles is required.

5. Varicose veins: There may be testicular soreness and discomfort. You can feel or even see earthworm-like varicose veins at the base of the scrotum. Color Doppler ultrasound examination can reveal that the testicles are normal but the varicocele is dilated. In this case, surgical treatment of varicocele can be considered.

6. Testicular tumor: There may be testicular swelling and pain, and a lump may be felt when touching the testicle. Color Doppler ultrasound can detect tumors inside the testicle, and active surgery is required to remove the tumor lesion.

7. Testicular discomfort caused by other diseases: For example, oblique hernia that falls into the scrotum, tuberculosis of the reproductive system, etc., can also cause testicular discomfort, which can be relieved after the primary disease is cured.

"Pain in the testicles" may sometimes be an unbearable pain in a man's life. Only by understanding "pain in the testicles" and paying attention to it can one embrace a healthy life.
