Who is suitable for male breast enlargement surgery?

The biggest difference between women and men is the difference in their bodies, and the external manifestation is the breasts. Although women's breasts vary in size, they are always larger than men's. Therefore, plump breasts have become a symbol of women. However, some men still have very large breasts. There is a surgery called male breast hypertrophy plastic surgery in clinical practice. What are its indications?

Male breast hypertrophy, also known as gynecomastia, refers to unilateral or bilateral breast enlargement in men due to different reasons at different stages and ages. There may be breast swelling and pain, disc-shaped nodules can be felt under the areola, nipple retraction and nipple discharge can be seen in some cases, and the appearance of some cases is similar to that of adolescent girls. Therefore, it is also called adolescent breast hypertrophy, middle-aged and elderly breast hypertrophy, idiopathic male breast hypertrophy, etc.

There are several types of surgical treatments for male breast enlargement:

1) Subcutaneous mastectomy through the frontal incision of the chest wall: suitable for young patients with small breast development;

2) Laparoscopic subcutaneous mastectomy: The incision is concealed and the postoperative appearance is good. It is suitable for young patients with larger breasts and higher requirements for appearance.

3) Simple mastectomy (without retaining the nipple and areola) is mostly suitable for elderly patients with larger breasts. This surgery does not involve the chest muscles, and will not affect the ability to exercise after recovery, but it will definitely leave scars. Do not do sudden and large-scale shoulder joint movements within 1 month after the operation; do not do vigorous upper limb activities such as pull-ups, basketball, and volleyball within 3 months; after 3 months, you can do exercises such as chest expansion and gradually increase the intensity of exercise.
