What causes scrotal peeling?

Many people do not understand what scrotal peeling is. In fact, in addition to some medical problems, sometimes bad living habits may also cause this phenomenon. For example, if the scrotal area is too hot for a long time, sweating and humidity are high, and the air permeability is poor, then a man's skin will be affected by sweat and cause peeling. Of course, it may be caused by a lack of vitamin B2.

(1) It is more common in people who do manual labor, especially in the summer, when the genitals are hot, sweaty, humid, and poorly ventilated. The scrotal skin is stained by sweat and rubbed by underwear, causing itching. This can also happen when wearing tight jeans or non-absorbent, non-breathable nylon underwear.

(2) Riboflavin (vitamin B2) deficiency can lead to scrotitis. The scrotum will show changes such as erythema, dryness, scaling, papules and scabs, accompanied by itching. At the same time, angular cheilitis, glossitis and oral ulcers may also occur.

(3) Scrotitis caused by fungi, such as candidal scrotitis and tinea cruris involving the scrotum, can cause scrotal itching.

(4) Neurodermatitis, eczema, etc. in the scrotal area may cause itching.

You currently have scrotal itching. You should wear loose cotton underwear and outer pants to allow ventilation of the genitals and keep the scrotum dry. Pay attention to local hygiene and wash it every day. If the itching is obvious, do not scratch it and do not boil it with boiling water. If various local damages occur, you should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment.

(5) The possibility of tinea femoris cannot be ruled out. Tinea femoris refers to a tinea pedis that occurs in the scrotum and groin. This dermatomycosis caused by Dermatomyces infection mainly occurs in the thigh (both sides of the inner thigh), hence the name tinea femoris. This tinea pedis can spread to the perineum, perianal area, and buttocks, hence the name "vulvofemoral tinea". The occurrence of tinea femoris is also related to poor local hygiene and the presence of other tinea pedis. During the course of the disease, folliculitis may occur due to scratching and infection. It is recommended to go to a regular andrology hospital for relevant examinations to clarify the cause and symptomatic treatment.
