What tests are done for glansitis?

When people experience redness, swelling, and itching of the glans, they need to undergo examination and diagnosis to determine whether there is inflammation. First, bacteria and secretions need to be tested to determine whether there is a fungal infection or what type of bacteria has infected the person. Some pathogenic factors should also be ruled out in normal times, such as frequent sweating recently, lack of hygiene for a long time, and failure to clean the lower body in time.

Inspection method

Laboratory inspection:

1. Candida can be found by microscopic examination and culture of the lesions of candidal head inflammation.

2. Amoeba or Trichomonas can be found in the secretions during amoeba and Trichomonas infection.

Other auxiliary inspections:

1. Pathological sections of plasmacytitis show epidermal atrophy, disappearance of the stratum corneum and stratum granulosum, infiltration of a large number of plasma cells in the dermal papilla, dilation of capillaries, and hemosiderin deposition.

2. Histopathology of micaceous and keratotic pseudoepitheliomatous head inflammation showed hyperkeratosis of the epidermis, parakeratosis, pseudoepitheliomatous proliferation, thickening of the stratum spinosum, and chronic inflammatory cell infiltration in the upper dermis.

Complications

1. It can cause sexual dysfunction: During the period of foreskin and glans inflammation, the sensual nerves of the glans are in a sensitive period, and the damage caused by inflammation makes it easy to have premature ejaculation during sexual life, which can lead to impotence in the long run. In addition, the hypertrophic narrow ring formed by the adhesion of the foreskin shrinkage causes the penis to be pulled backwards and compressed during erection, resulting in erectile dysfunction (impotence).

2. Leading to urinary system diseases: Balanitis can easily cause ascending infection of the urinary system, which is generally common in cystitis, nephritis, pyelonephritis, etc., especially chronic glansitis that has not been cured for a long time is most likely to cause urinary system diseases. Improper treatment in the acute stage can be life-threatening.

3. Can cause male infertility: Due to the long-term stimulation of inflammatory factors on the regulation of sperm and sexual response of the reproductive system, and the inflammatory secretions hidden in the foreskin enter the vagina together with semen during sexual intercourse, it reduces the quality of semen and destroys the ovarian cells, leading to male infertility.
