What methods can be used to relieve scrotal swelling?

There are many reasons for male scrotal swelling, which can be divided into three categories. The first is the lesions of the scrotal wall, the second is the lesions inside the scrotum, and the third is the foreign body in the abdominal cavity entering the scrotum, so the condition is very complicated. Once scrotal swelling occurs, you need to go to the hospital to find out the condition in time. The following methods can help alleviate the condition.

1. Men should learn to examine their scrotum themselves: the most important tissues in the scrotum are the testicles, epididymis and spermatic cord.

Check for the following issues:

1. Check whether the testicles are enlarged, whether there is pain when lightly pressed, and whether there are any irregular lumps on the surface of the testicles.

2. When you touch the testicles, you may mistake the epididymis for a foreign body. The epididymis is a flat strip attached to the upper back of the testicles, about 5-6 cm long, with a swollen, blunt upper end called the epididymis caput. When checking, use your index finger and thumb to gently squeeze it, and pay attention to whether there are painful nodules caused by inflammation, soft and pulsating spermatoceles, or nodules and stasis in the epididymis caused by blockage of the vas deferens.

3. Touch upward along the testicle and you will feel the spermatic cord, which is a bundle of cord-like tissue located above the testicle. Use your thumb and index finger to gently twist it and you can feel a hard tube like a thin linen rope, which is the vas deferens. When checking the spermatic cord, it is worth noting to feel whether the entire tube is smooth and whether there are clumps of earthworm-like substances in the middle. If you press lightly, it will feel smaller. If it feels uncomfortable but there are no obvious clumps, you can try to hold your breath and puff up your belly, which may make it clear. This is the dilated spermatic vein. Varicose vein is one of the main causes of male infertility.

4. If you find a lump, something else in your scrotum, or a big difference between the two sides during self-examination of your scrotum, you should immediately see a doctor for further examination. Do not delay treatment of the disease just because you do not feel any discomfort.

2. Scrotal skin injuries are more common, such as scratches, abrasions, or bruises caused by zippers.

Prevention tips: Take protective measures and try to avoid injuries. If the scrotal skin is bruised or hematoma after injury, or even the scrotum is torn and the testicles are exposed on the surface, if the wound is handled correctly, the wound on the scrotal skin will heal quickly, so it does not require special emergency treatment. Only consult a specialist for larger wounds. If the skin is not torn, you can rest in bed and apply local cold compresses to relieve pain; if the scrotum is torn and the testicles are exposed on the surface, you need to inject tetanus antitoxin, clean the wound locally, remove foreign bodies, return the testicles, and use antibiotics to prevent re-infection. If the scrotal skin is completely torn off, surgery is required to reconstruct the scrotum.

3. The scrotum is relatively moist due to its special location and poor air circulation.

In addition, the skin is mainly thin in stratum corneum, with abundant blood vessels and nerves. It is often rubbed by clothes and pants, which makes it easy to have many skin diseases: such as tinea cruris, scabies, scrotal itching, scrotal neurodermatitis, scrotal eczema, fixed drug eruption, etc. Prevention points: pay attention to personal hygiene habits, do not wear tight underwear, and use soft and breathable cotton cloth. Live a regular life and do not eat irritating foods. Common skin diseases of the scrotum, most of which are not difficult to treat as long as they are accurately diagnosed. For example, fixed drug eruption can be cured by stopping taking allergenic drugs, and tinea cruris can be cured by applying antifungal ointment for a few days, and the pain will be relieved soon. Therefore, men who suffer from scrotal skin diseases should never miss the necessary treatment just because they feel itchy and difficult to open their teeth.
