Can I have a baby if I have cryptorchidism?

Cryptorchidism is a reproductive disease that is common in men. These diseases should never be ignored because cryptorchidism can actually affect men's reproductive health. If it is unilateral cryptorchidism, you can have a normal sexual life and you can have children.

1. If it is unilateral cryptorchidism, and the opposite testicle functions normally, you can have normal sex life and normal fertility. But if it is bilateral cryptorchidism, it will directly affect fertility. But whether it is unilateral cryptorchidism or bilateral cryptorchidism, you need surgery as soon as possible at your age because it may turn into cancer.

2. Treatment

Treatment of cryptic testis must be completed before the age of 2. Cryptorchidism found in newborns can be observed regularly. If the testicles have not descended into the scrotum by the age of 6 months, the chance of spontaneous descent is very small, and hormone or surgical treatment should be considered. The purpose of treatment is to improve fertility, change appearance defects, avoid psychological and mental trauma to children, and reduce the tendency of testicular deterioration.

1. Hormone therapy

Hormone therapy can be tried for low-positioned cryptorchidism, and can also be used with caution in some children who have undergone testicular descent fixation. The treatment is mostly suitable for children under 1 year old and can be started after 6 months. The main hormones are HCG, luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) or gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), and LHRH + HCG can also be used in combination.

2.Surgery

Once the diagnosis of cryptic testis is confirmed, the child can undergo surgery after 6 months of age. If hormone treatment is ineffective and the child is over 1 year old when he or she is diagnosed, surgery should be performed as early as possible, no later than 2 years old. The main surgical methods include open surgery and laparoscopic surgery. Laparoscopic surgery has obvious advantages in the diagnosis and treatment of high-positioned cryptic testis. Other surgical methods include testicular autotransplantation. If the testicles are found to be dysplastic or atrophic, orchiectomy is required. If the testicles cannot be lowered to the scrotum in one operation, staged surgery is required.
