What is phimosis? What are the causes of phimosis?

In modern society, people should know more about sex, which can make life more convenient and more conducive to reproduction. However, due to the influence of traditional culture, many men do not understand their own sexual organs at all, and even do not understand some sexual diseases. For example, phimosis, what kind of disease is this?

What is foreskin?

Phimosis is caused by the narrowness of the foreskin opening or the adhesion of the foreskin to the glans penis after inflammation, which makes it impossible to turn up to expose the glans penis. Phimosis is divided into congenital and acquired. Congenital phimosis is divided into atrophic and hypertrophic types. Acquired phimosis is caused by inflammation, trauma, etc., which makes the foreskin opening adhere and narrow. Congenital phimosis can retract upwards on its own to expose the glans penis as the penis grows and erects.

Causes

Congenital factors:

The mild epithelial adhesion between the inner plate of the foreskin and the surface of the glans penis is absorbed, the foreskin retracts, and the glans penis is exposed. If the adhesion is not absorbed, congenital phimosis is formed. The foreskin opening of some children is very small, so that the foreskin cannot retract, which hinders the development of the glans penis or even the entire penis. The external urethra opening is also often small, sometimes as small as a pinhole, so that urination is difficult. Children with phimosis can often irritate the mucosa due to the accumulation of secretions under the foreskin, which can cause glans penis phimosis.

Acquired factors:

Acquired phimosis is often secondary to glans phimitis and damage to the foreskin and glans penis. Scar contraction occurs at the foreskin opening, and the skin loses its elasticity and expansion ability. The foreskin cannot retract upwards, and is often accompanied by urethral stenosis. This type of phimosis will not heal on its own. If the phimosis is severe, it may cause dysuria or even urine retention. When smegma accumulates, the glans penis may feel itchy. Long-term chronic stimulation may induce infection and cancer, leukoplakia and stones.
