What causes frequent urination in men? Frequent urination does not mean prostatitis

Frequent urination is a problem that many men will encounter. When this happens, many men are still worried whether they have some disease, especially prostate disease. Frequent urination is indeed a symptom of prostate disease, but some frequent urination is not caused by prostate disease.

Frequent urination cannot be determined simply by the number of urinations per day. It can be considered based on the following conditions:

(1) Changes in urination habits. Each person has a different urination habit. Generally, normal people urinate 2 to 8 times a day, with an average of 5 to 6 times. If the urination habit increases from 2 to 3 times a day to 7 to 8 times, the meaning is different from the original 7 to 8 times.

(2) Increased nocturia: During the day, urination is disturbed by the external environment, causing the cerebral cortex to become excited, and the frequency of urination may increase, but there is no such disturbance at night. If the frequency of urination increases, it often indicates that there is an organic disease in the urinary system, such as prostate hyperplasia.

(3) The frequency of urination increases, but the amount of urine per urination decreases, while the total daily urine volume remains unchanged. If the frequency of urination increases, but the amount of urine per urination does not decrease, this is polyuria, such as diabetes, diabetes insipidus, etc.

(4) Urine volume The total amount of urine excreted within 24 hours is related to drinking and sweating, and is generally 1,000-2,000 ml. More than 2,500 ml is polyuria, less than 400 ml is oliguria, and less than 100 ml is anuria or urinary retention. In patients with diabetes and diabetes insipidus, the daily urine volume can reach 2,500-5,000 ml. In patients with chronic nephritis or renal insufficiency, the urine volume can increase significantly. In uremia, acute nephritis, heart failure and shock, the urine volume decreases or even becomes anuric. Daytime urine should be more than nighttime urine, with a ratio of 3:1-4:1. The pH value of urine in healthy people is 4.8-7.4, with an average of 6, which is related to diet and drinking.
