Are colon tumors benign? What are the early symptoms?

Among the common gastrointestinal tumors, colon tumor can be regarded as a type of malignant tumor with a high probability of metastasis. Therefore, the following article will analyze the question of whether colon tumor is a benign tumor.

Are there benign colon tumors?

Colon tumors are rarely benign. Colon tumors are common malignant tumors in the intestines. Their incidence is second only to gastric tumors and esophageal tumors. Almost none of them are benign. Except for polyps and adenomas, other benign colon tumors are relatively rare, including lipomas, fibroids, myomas, adenomyomas, hemangiomas, and papilloma.

Early manifestations of colon cancer:

In the earliest stage, there may be abdominal distension, discomfort, and indigestion-like symptoms of colon tumors, followed by changes in bowel habits, such as increased bowel movements, diarrhea or constipation, and abdominal pain before defecation. Later, there may be mucus in the stool or mucopurulent blood in the stool. Appendicitis and ileocecal tumors are both common clinical diseases. Their common manifestation is obvious right lower abdominal pain. According to foreign clinical data, the incidence of coexistence of appendicitis and ileocecal tumors is 11% to 15%; while domestic scholars have proposed that the earliest manifestation of colon tumors is symptoms of acute appendicitis, accounting for 6.6%, which is especially common in patients over 50 years old.

If there is a history of acute appendicitis and a mass in the right lower abdomen, the presence of a colon tumor should be considered. For example, the patient in this article has a typical history of acute appendicitis, but a clear mass can be felt in the right lower abdomen, the frequency of attacks gradually increases, and the anti-inflammatory treatment is ineffective. The possibility of a combined ileocecal tumor should be considered, and further examination is required. The disease usually occurs at an older age, with a slow onset. The patient's general condition is poor, the fecal occult blood test is positive, anti-inflammatory treatment is ineffective or only temporarily improves, and relapses occur from time to time. Barium enema can show irregular destruction of the intestinal mucosa and filling defects. In addition, B-ultrasound or CT can be used for differential diagnosis.
