How should patients deal with colds during chemotherapy?

For patients with malignant tumors, chemotherapy is an essential process. Chemotherapy is inherently very harmful to the human body, and the body's resistance is very poor during chemotherapy. If you are not careful, you may catch a cold. How to deal with a cold during chemotherapy?

1. What to do if you catch a cold during chemotherapy

In the early stage of a cold, you can drink plenty of water and rest to build up some immunity, and then take medicine on the third day. Eat a light diet, such as porridge, noodle soup, fresh vegetables and fruits. Avoid eating greasy, cold, sticky, sour and fishy foods (such as rice dumplings, ice cream, chocolate, stale seafood, etc.). Keep warm and avoid rain or water to avoid catching a cold again.

It should also be noted that a common reaction of tumor patients during chemotherapy is leukopenia. At this time, the patient's resistance is reduced, nutrition is deficient, and infection is prone to occur. Therefore, patients should strengthen nutritional supplements to improve their body's resistance.

2. Diet therapy for chemotherapy patients after they recover from a cold

(1) A high-protein diet mainly improves the body's resistance and provides a material basis for white blood cells to return to normal.

(2) High-vitamin diet: Vitamins can promote the growth and development of cells. They help the differentiation and proliferation of white blood cells and restore them to normal.

(3) High-protein foods include poultry eggs, lean meat, animal liver, kidney, milk, beans and their products. High-vitamin foods include yeast-raised foods, cereals, peanuts, green fresh vegetables, fruits, fruit juices, etc., to supplement vitamin C, B complex and folic acid.

(4) Strict disinfection. Patients are prone to infection at this stage, so food should be strictly disinfected when it is prepared and raw, cold or unclean food should never be eaten.
