Why do men grow chest hair? What should I do if I have chest hair?

On men, the appearance of chest hair is often considered a sign of strength. In fact, there are certain reasons why men grow chest hair. The following article will introduce to you the reasons for the appearance of chest hair.

Why do men have chest hair?

Male Adam's apple and chest hair, female breasts and fat distribution are all called secondary sexual characteristics, which refer to the differences between the two sexes other than the genitals. They are manifestations of physiological differences between men and women, but they cannot be equated with sexual ability.

Secondary sexual characteristics are mainly caused by the difference in sex hormones secreted by male and female gonads (testicles in males and ovaries in females). Testosterone is the most important and abundant sex hormone in men's blood. During the embryonic period, testosterone determines the differentiation of sex organs; during puberty, testosterone makes the individual further develop towards male sexual characteristics and plays an important metabolic function throughout life. For women, estrogen is the most important sex hormone.

The amount of body hair is more closely related to genetic factors, but it is also a reflection of the level of androgen secretion. Although androgen can also affect sexual function, the relationship is not proportional.

How to remove chest hair:

1. Shaving

Location: Home.

Suitable for: large areas of hair on legs, arms and armpits.

Advantages: quick, simple, easy to carry, and painless.

Disadvantages: Sometimes the skin is scratched, hair stubble is still on the surface of the skin, and there is a burning sensation after shaving

Growth factor: Newly grown hair needs to be shaved off every one or two days.

Operation Note: Take a shower before shaving to soften the hair before shaving. Water or oil is the best lubricant, and soap is not recommended, as it will make the skin too dry. The blade should be replaced after 5-6 uses. If you use an electric shaver, you don't need to do this.

2. Waxing

Location: At home or in a beauty salon.

Suitable for: Softer hair on limbs, chest, abdomen and lips.

Advantages: No stubble, long-lasting effect, hair can become thinner after multiple uses.

Disadvantages: It is expensive and painful. More importantly, you have to wait until the hair grows to 0.5-1cm before you can have the second treatment.

Growth factors: Fine hair grows after about two weeks, and thicker hair grows after 4 to 6 weeks.

When applying wax, apply it in the direction of hair growth. When removing wax, remove it against the direction of hair growth, and press the skin firmly. Sun protection should be applied within 3 days after the wax is removed. If the hair is too long, trim it with scissors first.
