Acute prostatitis, four major clinical treatment methods

According to relevant experts, acute prostatitis is an acute inflammation caused by bacteria. If it is not treated in time, it is likely to form a prostate cyst after a period of development. The main cause of the disease is pathogen infection. So, what are the clinical treatments for acute prostatitis?

1. General treatment

You should rest in bed for 3-4 days, drink plenty of water, avoid drinking alcohol and eating irritating foods. You can take a hot water bath or hot compress to the perineum, keep your bowels open, and avoid sexual intercourse.

2. Antibiotic treatment

Antibiotics should be used immediately after clinical diagnosis. When the patient has obvious systemic symptoms, high body temperature, and significantly increased white blood cells in the blood, the medication should be given intravenously. After 1 week of use, oral medication should be used until 1 month; it is recommended to use broad-spectrum penicillin, third-generation cephalosporin, aminoglycoside or fluoroquinolone at the beginning. When the patient's systemic symptoms are not severe, and the body temperature and blood count are normal, oral medication can be used, and the course of treatment is at least 1 month. Anti-infective drugs that can diffuse into the prostate and are fast and effective should be selected to quickly control symptoms to prevent the development of chronic prostatitis.

3. Symptomatic treatment

If high fever occurs, antipyretics should be given accordingly. If bladder irritation is obvious, medication should be used according to the symptoms. If dysuria or urine retention occurs, a temporary suprapubic cystostomy should be performed to drain urine, or a soft silicone catheter should be used for indwelling catheterization, but the indwelling time of the catheter should not exceed 12 hours.

4.Surgery

If acute prostatitis has formed a prostate abscess, it should be drained through the rectum or perineum. If the abscess is confined to the prostate, a urethroscope can be used to drain the prostate, followed by injection of broad-spectrum antibiotics.
