Could red semen in men be a sign of inflammation?

Male ejaculation is a normal physiological phenomenon. Semen is milky white. What happens to semen when it is unhealthy? When men encounter major changes in semen, they should carefully check their health. Sometimes it is slightly yellow, sometimes it is red, and sometimes it is grayish white. Why does the color change sometimes?

The appearance of blood in semen

Generally speaking, for those who abstain from sex for a long time, the semen may be light yellow. If the semen is light red, red, brownish red, or even purple-brown like soy sauce, with blood streaks and blood clots, it is hematospermia, that is, the semen contains a large number of red blood cells.

The appearance of hematospermia can be intermittent or continuous. Some people have no other discomfort except hematospermia, but some people also have pain during ejaculation, hematuria or difficulty urinating.

Analyzing the causes of hematospermia, we can find that, generally speaking, hematospermia occurs when there is bleeding, inflammation, trauma, or even certain systemic diseases in the seminal vesicles, prostate, ejaculatory ducts, etc. In most cases, hematospermia is a pathological phenomenon and you need to go to the hospital to see a male or urologist.

However, if a couple who have been separated for a long time resume sexual life, it is normal for blood in semen to occur a few times and then disappear. This may be related to too intense sexual life and male inadaptability.

Normal semen color

It is very important to correctly judge the color of semen. Many men will judge based on the color of semen flowing out of the woman's vagina, which is wrong. Because the blood from the woman's vagina, cervix, uterus and even vulva will also mix into the semen during sex, causing the situation of "fake eyes mixed with pearls".

To judge the color of semen, it is best to use transparent, light-colored condoms during sex (do not use red or black condoms). After the ejaculation process is completed, first observe your penis to see if it is damaged or bleeding. After eliminating the factors of organ injury, wipe off the mucus on the outside of the condom with paper, and then put the condom on white paper (or pour it into a white container) to observe the color.
