What are the differences between renal deficiency alopecia and seborrheic alopecia?

For us humans, physical health is related to many important aspects, such as work and study. The physical condition can be seen from the quality of hair. Some people have black and shiny hair, while others have hair loss. So, what are the causes of kidney deficiency hair loss and seborrheic hair loss?

Causes of seborrheic alopecia:

Androgens

Modern medicine has confirmed that people with seborrheic alopecia generally have more male hormones. This is mainly because the male hormones secreted by the testicles enter the blood circulation, reach the scalp, and are converted into toxic substances that stimulate the hair follicles. The energy metabolism and protein metabolism of the hair follicles are impaired, resulting in hair loss.

Genetic factors

The genetic gene of seborrheic alopecia is dominant in men, and the pathogenic factors can be directly inherited from one generation to the next, so seborrheic alopecia is more common in men.

As long as a man has one hair loss gene, he will suffer from hair loss. However, because the hair loss gene is recessive in women, there will be no hair loss unless there are two hair loss genes. Even if there are two hair loss genes, generally speaking, women will only have thinning hair, and will not suffer from severe hair loss or only have hair on the edges and be bald in the middle.

Age growth

Age: As men age, the incidence of fat alopecia gradually increases. Fat alopecia often occurs in young men between the ages of 17 and 20, with the peak incidence at around 30 years old. Later, as the age increases, although the incidence decreases, the symptoms worsen and eventually turn into baldness.

Causes of hair loss due to kidney deficiency:

Kidney essence turns into blood, which nourishes hair; kidney essence turns into vital energy, which stimulates hair growth.

Kidney essence nourishes hair through the action of the Governor Vessel and the Qi of the meridians. The Governor Vessel branches out from the spine and belongs to the kidney. Therefore, the nutrition of hair comes from Qi and blood, and its vitality is rooted in the kidney. If the human body has sufficient kidney essence, the hair will develop normally, appearing dense, shiny, and soft; otherwise, the hair will be sparse, withered, and dull.

Kidney Yang deficiency is not exclusive to men, and kidney Yin deficiency is not exclusive to women. Just as both men and women have male and female hormones, men and women will experience kidney Yang deficiency and kidney Yin deficiency respectively. Kidney Yang and kidney Yin are very similar to the relationship between male and female hormones in the human body, but they are not completely the same. Kidney deficiency will lead to Yang hyperactivity (fire). Yang deficiency will lead to Yin hyperactivity. Excessive secretion of male hormones will inevitably lead to low estrogen levels, and low estrogen levels will inevitably lead to high male hormone levels. The two are in a mutually restrictive and interdependent relationship. It is very similar to the Yin-Yang relationship in traditional Chinese medicine theory. The typical phenomenon of kidney Yang hyperactivity caused by kidney Yin deficiency in men is sexual hyperactivity. The typical phenomenon of kidney yang deficiency in women is "uterine coldness (uterine infertility)". It is wrong to say that kidney yang deficiency is exclusive to men and kidney yin deficiency is exclusive to women! Kidney yin deficiency is exclusive to hair loss, and kidney yang deficiency has nothing to do with hair loss.
