Male testicles are paired, slightly flat and oval in shape, with a smooth surface. The net weight and volume of the male testicles on both sides are often slightly different. The male testicles of children are relatively large, growing and developing slowly before puberty, growing and developing rapidly as they approach sexual maturity, and then slowly shrinking in the elderly. Male testicles are actual internal organs, covered with a capsule on the surface, and the essence is mainly composed of male testicular lobules. Epididymal cysts are generally crescent-shaped, attached to the upper and posterior lateral sides of the male testicles. Epididymal cysts are mainly composed of the coiled epididymal duct, which turns into the displaced ejaculatory duct at the tail end of the epididymal cyst.

The testicles are located in the scrotum, one on each side. The surface of the testicle has a thick layer of sheath that becomes the tunica albuginea. The tunica albuginea thickens at the edge of the testicle and penetrates into the testicle to form the testicular septum. There are many connective tissue septa in the testicle that divide the testicle into many lobules. The lobules contain convoluted seminiferous tubules. The epithelial cells of the seminiferous tubules can produce sperm, and the connective tissue in the middle of the tubules contains interstitial cells that metabolize androgen. The seminiferous tubules fuse into straight tubules, which enter the male testis and interweave with the longitudinal septum to form the male testis rete. From the male testis rete, multiple efferent ductules are transmitted, and after leaving the male testis, they enter the epididymal cyst and temporarily store the sperm in the epididymal cyst.

The male testicle is the most critical part of the male reproductive system. The male testicle capacity is only 3ml before puberty. After entering puberty, the testicle develops rapidly and the capacity can reach about 12ml. The length and bumpiness of the internal seminiferous tubules increase, the lumen increases and thickens, and the spermatogonia on the wall continue to disintegrate and multiply to form sperm cells and eventually grow into sperm. The male testicle also metabolizes androgen. It is not difficult to see that the male testicle is not only a male reproductive organ, but also an endocrine organ.

Before birth, the male testicles are in the abdomen of the fetus, and they descend into the scrotum after birth. Some boys' testicles remain in the abdomen after birth, and there is only one or no testicle in the scrotum. This is called "cryptorchia" in medicine, and you should go to a specialist clinic for examination and treatment.

The outside of the testicle is encapsulated by a layer of tough tissue, called the tunica albuginea, which has the function of protecting the testicle. The tunica albuginea thickens and widens inward to form the testicular septum, which separates the testicle into many small chambers, called testicular lobules. A normal man usually has 200 to 300 lobules, which are filled with testicular essence, also called seminiferous tubules, which are the areas where sperm are produced.
