What is spermatic cord torsion? What are the symptoms?

I believe many people are unfamiliar with the disease of "varicocele torsion". In fact, varicocele torsion is testicular torsion. The most terrifying thing about it is that it often occurs during sleep, and the patient's testicles or scrotum will be very thick and severe. So what are the symptoms of varicocele torsion?

1. Severe pain accompanied by other symptoms

Testicular torsion is a sudden and severe disease, with severe pain in the testicle and scrotum on the affected side. The pain is limited to the scrotum at the beginning of the torsion, and then spreads to the lower abdomen and perineum, accompanied by vomiting, nausea or fever, and redness, swelling and tenderness in the genitals. Because the spermatic cord is also torsion, the blood vessels in the spermatic cord are blocked, and the testicle lacks blood supply. If not treated in time, the testicle will suffer from ischemic necrosis, turn black, and gradually atrophy and lose its function.

2. Enlarged testicles and epitesticles

The specific signs of this disease are testicular enlargement, upward displacement, and horizontal position. The testicles are obviously tender, and the spermatic cord is twisted and shortened like a rope. The pain does not decrease or worsens when the scrotum is lifted or the testicles are moved. The testicles and epididymis are enlarged and the boundaries are unclear. The transillumination test is negative.

3. Common clinical symptoms of testicular torsion

The clinical manifestations of testicular torsion are mainly pain and swelling. It is not uncommon clinically, and often occurs in cases of congenitally long mesentery, dysplastic gubernaculum testis, cryptorchidism, incomplete testicular descent, incomplete connection between epididymis and testis, excessive activity of epididymis and part of spermatic cord, and excessive spermatic cord. It is divided into two types: intrathecal type and extrathecal type. The direction of testicular torsion is mostly from outside to inside. Since testicular torsion is a very urgent clinical disease, it is necessary to diagnose the condition in time for treatment. If you are alert to this disease, combined with medical history, age of onset, physical examination, and if necessary, Doppler ultrasound and radionuclide examination, it should not be too difficult to make a correct diagnosis in time. If it happens in children, diagnosis is often more difficult. Children usually have unexplained anorexia and restlessness, and the disease usually develops quickly. Sometimes, treatment is delayed due to lack of a correct diagnosis, causing unnecessary harm to the patient.
