What to do if a man is infertile?

Men's inability to have children is caused by many diseases or factors, not just one disease. Male endocrine diseases can also cause infertility, but reproductive tract infections and other factors are the most common, such as prostatitis or orchitis. These factors can cause male infertility. How can they be treated? Let's see what the experts say.

Medication principles

1. Infertility caused by genital tract infection is mainly treated with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs, supplemented by drugs that improve sperm motility.

2. For azoospermia, oligospermia and idiopathic infertility, endocrine therapy should be mainly based on sex hormone drugs.

3. For those with low sperm motility, the main treatment is medication to improve sperm motility.

4. Patients with infertility caused by varicose veins, vas deferens obstruction, cryptorchidism, and epispadias should undergo surgical treatment, assisted by endocrine drugs and other auxiliary drugs.

5. Those who are absolutely infertile (such as azoospermia) should undergo artificial insemination.

Treatment includes two aspects: cause treatment and symptomatic treatment:

1. Promote the spermatogenesis function of testicles

① Drug treatment: commonly used human human gonadotropin 1500-2000U intramuscular injection 3 times a week; clomiphene 50mg orally once a day for 3 consecutive months.

②Surgical treatment: Patients with varicocele accompanied by abnormal semen need to undergo high varicocele ligation. Patients with cryptorchidism or incomplete testicular descent can undergo testicular descent fixation to promote testicular spermatogenesis.

2. Keep the vas deferens open

Actively treat sexual dysfunction and maintain normal sex life. For those with congenital vas deferens absence, vas deferens obstruction and vasectomy, active surgical treatment should be performed.

3. Improve sperm function

Those with genital tract inflammation should be actively treated with antibiotics; vitamin E, vitamin C and zinc preparations such as complex protein zinc can improve sperm function. For those with immune infertility, the use of condoms can eliminate and reduce the stimulation of sperm antigens to women.

The male testicle is a relatively delicate organ. The working temperature of the testicle must be about one degree lower than the temperature of the human body in order to work normally. If the temperature is too high, it is likely to affect the quality of sperm. Therefore, we should not take hot baths on weekdays, and the pants we wear must be breathable. Smoking will also affect male sperm, so we should also quit smoking.
