Is it scrotal eczema?

Men like to wear tight underwear and trousers in their daily life, which will cause the scrotum to be wrapped every day, making it easy to be infected by bacteria, and will also cause scrotal diseases, thus causing serious harm. When the scrotum is itchy, many patients will suspect that it is scrotal eczema. In fact, the symptoms of scrotal eczema are mainly diffuse redness of the scrotal skin, and rice-like papules or blisters will grow at the same time. If the patient only relies on this symptom, it cannot be diagnosed as scrotal eczema. It must be combined with other symptoms of the patient to avoid misdiagnosis of the disease. For this reason, let's take a look at the detailed symptoms of scrotal eczema to facilitate patient diagnosis.

⒈ Acute scrotal eczema is mainly manifested by diffuse redness, swelling, and severe itching of the scrotal skin. Many papules and blisters ranging in size from needles to rice grains may appear at the same time. After scratching or rubbing, the erythema, papules, and blisters rupture, revealing large areas of moist erosion, with a large amount of light yellow slurry exuding, part of which condenses into pairs of light yellow scabs. Generally, after 2-3 weeks, the redness and swelling will be reduced, the exudate will decrease, and it will gradually heal completely, but it is easy to relapse.

⒉ Subacute scrotal eczema is a transformation from acute scrotal eczema, characterized by mild thickening and mild erosion of the scrotal skin, more scaling, very little exudate, and still severe itching.

3. If subacute scrotal eczema is not treated in time, it will be delayed for a long time or recur repeatedly, which may turn into chronic scrotal eczema. The scrotal skin gradually becomes thicker and rougher, dark red or gray-brown, with enlarged wrinkles and walnut shell shape, and scales attached. During the course of the disease, it may cause erosion, exudation and other symptoms of acute or subacute scrotal eczema due to severe itching and scratching.

⒋ Chronic scrotal eczema: It is caused by long-term unhealed acute and subacute eczema and repeated attacks. A small number of cases are chronic from the onset. The boundaries of skin damage are obvious, and the inflammatory changes are not obvious. The main manifestations are thickening, roughness, obvious ridges, dryness, scaling, and lichen-like changes. The skin color is dark red or dark brown, with scratches, a small amount of papules, blood scabs, and pigmentation; itching is severe and occurs from time to time, especially at night or when the mood is tense. It is often accompanied by symptoms such as irritability, insomnia, dizziness, fatigue, soreness of waist and knees, thin fur, and weak pulse.

The disease is divided into acute and chronic types, and is closely related to the occupations people are engaged in and the environment they live in. For example, people who work in coal mines, tunnels and other humid places for a long time, and people who live in humid areas or rooms for a long time are prone to this disease. Some people also believe that the occurrence of this disease is related to genetic factors, hot water washing, and irritability. This disease causes severe itching and recurring attacks.

Whether the itching on the scrotum is scrotal eczema depends on the symptoms of the disease. There are many types of scrotal eczema, and the diagnosis should be based on the patient's physical symptoms, signs and examination results. Of course, if the patient has an unclean sexual history and has itching on the scrotum, it is also necessary to prevent sexually transmitted diseases. Therefore, it cannot be directly diagnosed as scrotal eczema when the patient has itching on the scrotum.
