Male right chest pain like a needle prick

Male right chest pain like a needle prick

Men have a stinging pain in the right chest like a needle. If the pain occurs during excessive exercise, it may be a sign of pneumothorax, which is more common in young people and may be accompanied by idiopathic aggravated dyspnea, requiring surgery. If the pain occurs after fatigue or cold, it may be a sign of neurological disease, such as costochondritis or costochondritis. The pain is often distributed along the ribs and can be relieved after rest.

If there is a history of lung infection, consider pleurisy, which is mainly manifested by localized stabbing pain in the chest area and the pain is significantly aggravated when coughing and taking a deep breath. When the elderly have chest pain, they should be alert to the possibility of lung malignancy, which is more common in long-term smokers and is often accompanied by irritating cough and hemoptysis. There are many reasons for men's right chest pain. They should go to the hospital immediately for a lung CT examination to confirm the diagnosis and cooperate closely with the treatment of college doctors.

Symptoms of Pneumothorax

1. Pneumothorax after trauma

The symptoms of post-traumatic pneumothorax are pneumothorax caused by a needle stick injury to the chest;

2. Primary pneumothorax

Primary pneumothorax refers to pneumothorax that occurs in healthy people without significant lung disease. This condition usually occurs more often in men.

3. Secondary pneumothorax

Secondary pneumothorax refers to pneumothorax that occurs secondary to various lung diseases. Common diseases that cause pneumothorax include chronic bronchitis, emphysema, tuberculosis, lung cancer, etc.

4. Closed pneumothorax

Also known as simple pneumothorax, the key is that due to reasons such as rib fractures, the pleura thickens and ruptures, and the air in the lungs enters the pleural cavity to cause pneumothorax. After pneumothorax occurs, the damaged visceral pleura thickens and closes itself automatically, and no air enters the meningeal cavity during the entire process of breathing.

The pressure in the pleural cavity increases, and after vacuuming, the pressure decreases and the needle is left in place for 2-3 minutes to observe if the pressure does not rise again. The gas in the pleural cavity can be absorbed autonomously, and the pressure can restore the air pressure, and the lungs will expand accordingly. In cases of small pneumothorax, where the lung collapses less than 30%, there may be no significant symptoms.

Generally, no special treatment is required and the disease can be completely absorbed after 1-2 weeks. In patients with severe pneumothorax and lung atrophy of more than 30%, symptoms such as chest tightness, shortness of breath and difficulty breathing may occur. The bronchus may shift to the healthy side, percussion of the injured side may produce tympanic sounds, and the breath sounds detected by the auscultator may weaken or disappear.

5. Open pneumothorax

Also known as traffic pneumothorax, all factors that can cause chest damage can lead to open pneumothorax, such as small bullets, low-speed gun ammunition, knives, sandwich glass, etc. Open pneumothorax is common in car accidents, accidents, etc., and is common in weapons and equipment, artifact injuries in combat. In open pneumothorax, the chest pressure on the injured side is equal to the atmospheric pressure, and the lung collapses under force. The degree of collapse depends on the lung compliance and whether the parietal pleura thickens and whether there is adhesion.

The air pressure in the healthy pleural cavity is still lower than that in the injured side, which causes the diaphragm to adjust to the affected limb, and the healthy lung also collapses to a certain extent. Lung collapse reduces lung volume and tidal volume, impairs ventilation and causes the lung to separate from the right to the left, resulting in hypoxemia.
