What does a normal male urethra look like?

In daily life, some men will feel some pain in their urethra when defecating. At this time, they need to be careful that this may be related to some symptoms. Therefore, for the actual cause of pain in the urethra when men urinate, and what the normal urethra is like for men, you can read the following analysis for everyone.

Under normal circumstances, the color of the urethral opening is slightly redder than that of the glans penis. Its red color range does not exceed the outer edge of the urethral opening, and it is naturally closed, without swelling, secretions, pain, etc. However, its color is easily affected by circulatory, local and environmental factors, such as hot weather, butt baths, excessive exercise, etc. Therefore, some redness of the urethral opening is a normal physiological phenomenon in many cases. As long as there is no history of unclean sexual behavior, there is no need to worry or pay attention to it.

Causes of urinary pain in men:

1. Prostatitis

Prostatitis can also cause pain when urinating, and the pain is most obvious at the end of urination. After urinating, you still feel pain, similar to the feeling of "empty pain". It is common in drivers, IT personnel and other people who often squat at work. Before and after the pain of urination, there is also discomfort in the lower abdomen. After squeezing, there is often discharge from the urethra, then you may have prostatitis.

Recent studies have shown that, through prostatitis urodynamic model examinations, it was found that after men suffer from prostatitis, the posterior urethral pressure increases significantly, resulting in increased muscle capacity of the posterior urethra of the male prostate, causing urine to flow back into the male prostate. The uric acid in the urine will cause a kind of organic chemical irritation, causing male prostatitis patients to experience symptoms such as urination pain and groin pain.

In general, men who have painful urination should cooperate closely with the examination to determine what disease is causing it. Generally speaking, the first thing to do is to check whether there are abnormalities such as blood cells, white blood cell counts, pus cells, etc. in the urine, which can help to clarify the cause of painful urination. Then, combined with its clinical manifestations, it can be determined whether it is caused by other diseases.

2. Cystitis

Cystitis is an inflammation of the bladder, mostly caused by infection in the urethra, which then spreads back to the bladder. Therefore, cystitis is often combined with acute urethritis. When urinating, the bacteria in the bladder irritate the urethra, which causes a significant burning sensation, pain during urination, lower abdominal pain at the end of urination, turbid urine, and sometimes hematuria.

When doing urine bacteria culture, it can be found that the number of bacteria in 1ml of urine exceeds 100,000. If it is not treated in time, it will turn into chronic cystitis, and the condition will worsen and cannot be cured. At this time, if you take diuretic and anti-inflammatory pills that have the effects of clearing away heat and fire, diuresis and relieving stranguria, the symptoms can be cured quickly.

3. Reproductive tract infections such as gonorrhea or condyloma acuminatum

If you have a history of unclean sex life and then experience painful urination, excessive urethral discharge, and rashes and eruptions on the male genitals, the most likely problem is a reproductive tract infection such as gonorrhea or genital warts.

4. Urethritis

Urethritis refers to the invasion of bacteria, viruses and other pathogens into the urethra, causing inflammation, which in turn irritates the urethra and affects urination. It is the key cause of painful urination. Male patients in the subacute stage of urethritis will continue to have purulent secretions. Acid-fast staining of secretions or urine bacterial culture can be performed to diagnose which pathogen is causing it.
