What are the characteristics of the male urethra?

In the human body structure, the urethra is a very important part. It is related to the body's metabolism and the elimination of useless secretions. Many people do not understand their own organ structure, for example, what are the characteristics of the male urethra. In fact, facing such a problem, there is no need to be ashamed or avoid it. Only by understanding the human body can we promote the development of medicine and solve more diseases. The following is a popular science for everyone, what are the characteristics of the male urethra.

① The male urethra has 2 bends, 3 strictures and 3 dilations in anatomy. The first bend is located in the membranous part of the urethra, just below the pubic symphysis, so it is also called the inferior pubic bend or the posterior urethral bend; the second bend is located in the cavernous body of the urethra, just in front of the pubic symphysis, so it is called the anterior pubic bend. When catheterizing, the penis is moved forward toward the abdominal wall, and the anterior pubic bend disappears. Since this section of the urethra is movable, it is not easy to be injured. However, the inferior pubic bend is relatively fixed and cannot be straightened artificially. Therefore, when inserting the catheterization instrument, it should be inserted carefully and gently along this bend, and it must not be inserted roughly to avoid injury. The three strictures are the internal urethral opening, the membranous part and the external urethral opening. The three enlargements are the prostatic part, the bulbar part, and the navicular fossa.

② The clinically referred male posterior urethra includes the anatomical membranous urethra and the prostatic urethra, that is, the section from the internal urethral opening to the membranous urethra, which is about 4.0 cm long, of which the membranous urethra is the shortest (only 1.0-1.2 cm long). Because it passes through the external urethral sphincter, it is the most fixed and weak section of the urethra, and is also the part with the smallest circumference except for the external urethral opening. Except for opening during urination, it is often in a contracted state. Therefore, improper examination techniques with intraurethral instruments can easily cause internal injuries. It is also the anatomical part that is most vulnerable to injury when the perineum is violently squeezed.

③ The prostatic urethra is a section of urethra surrounded by the prostate. It is completely in the pelvic cavity, 3.0-4.0 cm long, with a spindle-shaped lumen, and is the wider part of the entire urethra. When the prostate is hyperplastic at grade II or III, this section of urethra can be extended to 4.0-6.0 cm. There is a longitudinal protrusion on the midline of the posterior wall of this section of urethra, called the urethral ridge. In the middle of the ridge, there is an obvious spindle-shaped protrusion called the spermatic colliculus. In the center of the colliculus, there is a hidden pit called the prostatic cyst, which is equivalent to the female vagina. There are ejaculatory duct openings on both sides of the hidden pit. Most prostates open on the spermatic colliculus and the mucosa nearby.

These are the characteristics of the male urethra. It is useful and necessary for people to understand themselves, especially in the medical field. Doctors and experts have discovered such sophisticated foods through research. This is not only the progress and development of medical technology, but also not just understanding the characteristics of the male urethra. Everything they discovered is worthy of praise. These are all ways to promote human health.
