Six tips for men to quit smoking and avoid tobacco

Men should remember six tips to quit smoking and refuse tobacco. Now, everyone knows that smoking is harmful to the human body. However, they don't know how to quit smoking. Here are six common senses that smokers should know.

1. Know that smoking is actually a disease

Smokers who are addicted to smoking are actually patients. Pathophysiological studies have confirmed that the essence of smoking addiction is nicotine dependence, and the World Health Organization has included it as a disease in the International Classification of Diseases.

2. Getting rid of nicotine is not a matter of willpower alone

Many smokers have failed to quit smoking and attribute the reason to their weak willpower. However, they do not know that nicotine dependence is a disease that cannot be cured by willpower alone. Once a smoker becomes addicted to nicotine, he or she needs to smoke a cigarette every 30-40 minutes to maintain a stable level of nicotine in the brain. If this level is not reached, the smoker will feel irritable, uncomfortable, nauseous, have a headache and crave nicotine supplementation, which is similar to the feeling of drug withdrawal. Therefore, only a few smokers can completely quit smoking the first time they quit, and most smokers have the experience of relapse after quitting smoking.

3. Smoking affects health over a long period of time

Experts point out that smoking is a risk factor for many diseases, and tobacco can damage almost all organs of the human body. Since the health damage caused by smoking has the characteristics of long-term lag, related diseases will not appear until 10, 20 or even longer years after smoking. This also causes smokers to often not recognize the harm of smoking before the disease appears.

4. Smoking may be illegal in some situations

With the deepening of tobacco control legislation, in August 2005, the 17th session of the Standing Committee of the Tenth National People's Congress of my country approved the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, which requires all signatory countries to enact laws to prevent the public from being exposed to tobacco and smoke. It was fully implemented in my country on January 9, 2011, which means that my country will achieve a comprehensive ban on smoking in indoor public places within a few years.

5. It is better to quit and rush into the battle

When you quit smoking, you must think carefully and avoid quitting when you are not mentally prepared. Otherwise, the strong withdrawal symptoms, including physiological reactions and cravings for cigarettes, will be unbearable. After hesitation, you may start smoking again and come to the conclusion that you can't quit smoking. This is also the reason why some people try to quit smoking many times and fail many times.

6. Seek professional help from a doctor if you want to quit smoking

Seeking help from a professional doctor is the scientific way to quit smoking. In view of the chronic and high recurrence characteristics of smoking, doctors should also use the methods of managing chronic diseases to help smokers; without the intervention of doctors in quitting smoking, the possibility of failure is far greater than the chance of success.
