Is hydronephrosis serious in men?

Is it serious for men to have hydronephrosis? Many people may not know much about the disease of hydronephrosis, so they don’t know the harm of this disease, so they don’t start treatment after getting the disease. In fact, the harm of hydronephrosis to patients is very great. In order to help patients understand this disease more accurately, our outpatient expert professor of Guangzhou Xiejia Hospital will introduce the harm of hydronephrosis in detail to everyone.

1. Urinary tract infection: Hydronephrosis may cause urinary tract infection in patients, which will cause great harm to the patient's daily life and work. Because urine stagnates in the kidney and urethra, bacteria grow and multiply, which may lead to complications such as pyelonephritis, ureteritis, cystitis or peripheral nephritis.

2. Kidney stone formation: Hydronephrosis will continue to cause kidney stones. Authoritative experts emphasize that stones block the urethral opening and cause hydronephrosis, which in turn causes stones to form. The two are causal. Infected beneficial bacteria, abscesses, and necrotic tissue cells become the key to kidney stone formation, especially the dissolved salt crystals in infected urine will accumulate into stones.

3. Kidney atrophy: If hydronephrosis is not treated promptly, it will cause severe shrinkage. This is because urination is blocked, the renal pelvis dilates, the renal internal pressure increases, and the renal tissue and blood vessels are stressed, resulting in idiopathic shrinkage and damage of renal cerebral ischemia, and renal function is impaired. In more serious cases, the kidney will become a large, useless sac. For patients with mild hydronephrosis, the shape of the renal pelvis can be restored after the hydronephrosis obstruction is eliminated; but for moderate to severe hydronephrosis, the shrunken renal tissue cannot be repaired.

4. Extreme hydronephrosis: Because the renal parenchyma is too thin, if the internal tension of the kidney is too great, it is easy to cause traumatic rupture or spontaneous tension rupture, which may be highly complicated by acute peritonitis and seriously endanger personal safety.
