How to do a routine examination of prostate fluid

Semen is a milky white, thin liquid produced by the male prostate metabolism. It is a key component of semen. Its content in semen is second only to seminal vesicle fluid, accounting for about 15% to 30% of semen, but semen does not play a role in pregnancy. In clinical medicine, prostate massage is used to obtain prostate fluid. The method is: after urinating, the patient takes the chest-knee position, massages the prostate, and sees semen overflowing from the urethra. Use a glass lens to collect the specimen and re-examine it immediately to prevent it from drying up.

Routine semen examination, also known as EPS test, is a new item in routine physical examination for male urological diseases. Routine male prostate examination generally refers to regular examination of semen appearance and optical microscope examination. The key purpose of semen optical microscope examination is to check whether there are white/blood cells, total number of unsaturated fatty acid bodies and trichomonas, male sperm, tumor cells (staining agent is required for examination), tapioca starch bodies and whether there are bacteria.

The key purpose of checking semen is to understand whether the male prostate has problems such as inflammation, stones, tumors, prostate hyperplasia, etc.

Basic clinical manifestations of semen

Semen testing is mainly used for the diagnosis of chronic prostatitis, microbiological testing and function observation, etc. It can also be used for sexually transmitted disease testing.

1. In prostatitis, semen may be yellow-white or purulent, with an increased number of white blood cells, from which large piles of pus globules can be seen, and lecithin bodies are often reduced.

2. In prostate cancer, the number of red blood cells increases and becomes stubborn, and tumor cells can be found.
