How do men get pubic lice?

Patients with pubic lice will feel unbearable itching, especially at night, which seriously affects sleep. To treat pubic lice, first shave the patient's pubic hair, armpit hair and other itchy hair. Clean and disinfect the patient's underwear with hot water. In addition, the sheets, quilts and towels used by the patient must be managed and disinfected. Others cannot use them again, otherwise they will be infected.

What causes pubic lice in men

1. What causes male pubic lice?

1.1 Sexually transmitted diseases

During sexual intercourse, pubic lice often create opportunities to find new hosts, causing pubic lice to infect sexual partners, so pubic lice are often prevalent among promiscuous people.

1.2 Immediate infection

It refers to direct contact transmission through non-sexual acts. Due to limited living conditions, crowded housing, and poor hygiene, people who share a bed with patients with pubic lice can also be infected with pubic lice through sheets, quilts, and pure cotton towels.

1.3 Indirect infection

Pubic lice and lice eggs often accompany the loss of male pubic hair and contaminate underwear, pure cotton towels, sheets, toilet seats, etc. Others may become infected by touching such objects.

2. What are the symptoms of male pubic lice?

The basic harm of male pubic lice is that they initially appear as tiny dark red bumps of varying sizes, either alone or in clusters, moist and soft, with nipple-like, cockscomb-shaped or cauliflower-like protrusions, bright red or dark gray, with pedicles at the roots, and are prone to produce erosive exudate, which is easy to bleed when touched. Purulent secretions often accumulate in the gaps between skin lesions, causing a foul odor, and secondary infection is often caused by scratching.

Pubic lice that grow in the urethral opening or anterior urethra are usually not easy to observe. Pubic lice that grow in the anal opening are more likely to be confused with hemorrhoids. However, pubic lice that grow in the anus are difficult to observe without an anoscope. Sometimes the main manifestation is bleeding after defecation. The skin around the anus is wrinkled and there is a lot of friction when walking, so once pubic lice are present, they are often multiple. At first, they are mostly papules, and then the warts grow and develop in the form of tubercles. They can be large cauliflower-like tubercles with peduncles. In large numbers, they are flat and have small papillae on the surface.
