What is the best medicine for treating prostate hyperplasia?

Every man should pay attention to prostate problems, because prostate is also a serious urinary system disease that endangers the health of modern men. There are many types of prostate diseases, among which the most common is prostate hyperplasia, which has a great impact on the patient's urinary system. So when treating prostate hyperplasia, what medicine is the most effective?

Prostatic hyperplasia is common in middle-aged and elderly men. The prostate is mainly located in the posterior urethra and surrounds the entire posterior urethra. The hyperplastic prostate will exert pressure on the posterior urethra, narrowing and elongating the posterior urethra lumen, increasing urination resistance. Clinically, it will not only cause symptoms such as frequent urination and urgency, but also cause dysuria. There are currently two main types of drugs commonly used for prostatic hyperplasia: one is androgen receptor antagonists, the most commonly used of which is finasteride, which antagonizes the stimulating effect of androgen on prostatic hyperplasia.

The other is an α-receptor blocker, which can contract the bladder neck and posterior urethra, thereby relieving the symptoms of bladder outlet obstruction caused by prostatic hyperplasia. Commonly used drugs are tamsulosin, etc. Patients need to take the drug for a long time, at least for more than 3 months.

Prostatic hyperplasia is medically known as benign prostatic hyperplasia, which usually occurs in men after the age of 40. Symptoms of prostatic hyperplasia appear later, and there may be no symptoms in the early stage. When symptoms appear, the condition is already serious. Treatments for prostatic hyperplasia are divided into the following categories:

1. Surgical treatment: If the hyperplasia is severe, meets the surgical indications and has no contraindications, surgery is the first choice;

2. Non-surgical treatment: Some patients have contraindications to surgery, such as being too old, accompanied by poor heart, kidney, liver function, etc., and non-surgical treatment is selected. Some patients have prostate hypertrophy and frequent urination at night, which affects the quality of life. They are suitable for conservative treatment, mainly using α-receptor blockers or Proscar. However, Proscar can cause decreased male sexual function. Oral Chinese medicine decoctions and Chinese patent medicines can also be used.
