How long does it take to recover after testicular surgery?

It takes a month to recover after a hidden testicle surgery. During this stage, the patient needs to rest more, pay attention to diet and wound care, and needs to be hospitalized for observation for one week after the surgery. Babies who have undergone hidden testicle surgery should not participate in intense sports to avoid wound strain and rupture, and should change underwear regularly to avoid testicular infection. Take precautions after the surgery.

The operation of occult testicle fixes the testicles by fixing them. Otherwise, they may return to their original abnormal position. Generally, it takes about one month after the operation to return to normal. In order for the child to recover better, parents should let the child rest for a while. After another three months of rest after the operation, the child's body functions will be fully restored. Just like a healthy baby, there is no need to worry about which action or which diet will cause harm to the baby.

After incest surgery, children should be less active to avoid negative emotions. They should be careful to take care of the wound and avoid excessive friction from foreign objects. Children are more active and rarely lie in bed to rest after surgery. Parents need to make more efforts to prevent children from getting out of bed too early.

What is cryptorchidism?

Normal male babies have two testicles, which we call testicles. If the child has a problem of underdevelopment, then this phenomenon of one testicle will also occur, and even more serious babies will lack both testicles. As long as the testicles cannot be touched in the child's scrotum, this situation will be diagnosed as cryptorchidism. Cryptorchidism includes two situations. The first situation is true cryptorchidism, and the second situation is that the testicles do not grow in the normal position after being done, which is called ectopic testis. Generally speaking, children have cryptorchidism because the testicles do not follow the normal path during the development process, and do not run normally from the waist peritoneum to the bottom of the scrotum where they should go.

The incidence of occult testis in full-term male babies is 3%. After one year old, the incidence rate will decrease to 1% and tend to be stable after adulthood.

How should cryptorchidism be treated?

1. Hormone therapy. Hormone therapy requires testing of the patient's testosterone and luteinizing hormone levels in advance. If the indicators are low and then rise after hormone therapy, it indicates that the testicular interstitial cells are more sensitive to hormones. This optimistic situation indicates that the testicles are likely to descend to the scrotum after this treatment. If the patient is not sensitive to hormone therapy, surgical treatment must be performed as soon as possible to avoid delaying the child's life.

2. Surgery. Children with cryptorchidism who are over six months old and under two years old can undergo surgery. Early surgery can help normal cell development, increase the number of spermatogonia, and maintain normal spermatogenesis after puberty. If the best time for surgery is missed, 62% of the fertility of patients who undergo surgery during puberty can still be retained. If no surgery is performed at all, the fertility of the patient will only be 46%.
