Infertility is a symptom that exists in some special groups of people. If a man suffers from this disease, he will not be able to have children with his partner. However, with the increasing development of medical technology, some infertility can be treated by certain methods. Of course, men need to be examined before treatment. So, what tests are needed for male infertility? 1. Male infertility test Routine semen examination: This is the most basic and important clinical indicator for determining male fertility. The parameters of semen are what doctors need to know first. Patients should pay attention to the following: do not have sex for 3-5 days before going for examination; it is best to use masturbation to obtain the sample; ensure that all semen is obtained; and recheck 1-2 times within 2 weeks. 2. Biochemical examination of serum Analysis of the chemical composition of seminal plasma helps to understand the functions of the epididymis, prostate, and seminal vesicles. When patients have low semen volume, azoospermia, oligospermia, unexplained decreased sperm motility, congenital defects of accessory glands, and accessory gland diseases, seminal plasma biochemical examinations can be performed. Commonly found are fructose, botulinum toxin, acid phosphatase, etc. 3. Microbiological Examination Experts say that one of the main causes of male infertility is male urinary and reproductive infections. Therefore, male infertility patients need to undergo microbial tests for pathogenic microorganisms related to male urinary and reproductive system infections, including bacteria, viruses, spirochetes, mycoplasmas, chlamydia, etc. 4. Endocrine examination Reproductive endocrine disorders are an important cause of sexual dysfunction and male infertility. Endocrine examinations mainly involve the determination of sex hormones T, FSH, LH, PRL, E2 and various stimulation tests, such as the HCG stimulation test. 5. Genetic Testing The normality of male-related chromosomes and genes is the basis for maintaining normal reproductive function. Abnormalities in chromosomes and genes can lead to abnormal sexual differentiation and/or sperm production disorders, which can seriously affect reproductive function. Therefore, it is very important to perform chromosome and gene tests on couples with abnormal sexual differentiation or other genetic defects, azoospermia and severe oligospermia, a family history of genetic diseases, or recurrent miscarriage. 6. Prostatic fluid examination Prostatitis can lead to male infertility. Prostatic fluid examination can provide a basis for the diagnosis of prostatitis. |
