Sperm motility

Sperm motility

Sperm motility mainly refers to the intensity of activity and movement of a man's own experience. There are many factors that affect the motility of a man's sperm. For example, if a man stays up late for a long time and has bad habits such as smoking and drinking, his sperm motility will be greatly reduced. At the same time, genetic factors also have a key impact on a man's sperm motility. What should I do if the test results show that the sperm is not motile?

Smoking and drinking: Smoking has a great impact on sperm motility. Foreign studies have shown that compared with non-smokers, smokers have significantly lower indicators of semen quality and a significantly higher rate of sperm deformity. Alcohol has a direct impact on male testicles. Long-term and heavy drinking can lead to testicular atrophy and reduced semen quality.

Obesity: Studies have found that excessive obesity in men can cause the temperature in the groin to rise, impairing sperm growth.

Temperature: Habits such as wearing tight pants for a long time, taking saunas, hot baths, and placing laptops on your legs will lead to poor local heat dissipation, causing the temperature of the scrotum to rise, thereby reducing sperm production and motility.

Vigorous exercise, such as marathon and long-distance cycling, may affect the growth environment of sperm, causing the sperm growth environment to overheat and lead to sperm inactivity. Moderate exercise can help improve sperm motility and balance the body's hormone levels, especially maintaining the secretion level of male hormones.

Age: Generally speaking, male sperm motility changes parabolically with age, with the best activity between 20 and 40 years old, which is also the "golden reproductive period" for men. After the age of 40, the sperm motility of men will decrease at a rate of 0.7% per year, and the number of abnormal sperm will increase. After the age of 60, 85% of sperm may be abnormal.
