How to determine impotence?

Sexual dysfunction causes great damage to men's lives, because sexual function is the basis for maintaining the relationship between husband and wife, and it is also the basis for the physiological needs of both husband and wife to be realized. Sexual dysfunction is mostly common in men, mainly manifested in impotence and premature ejaculation, which prevent men from having a complete sexual life. The standard of impotence should be judged based on science. Let's take a look at how to judge impotence.

Erectile dysfunction refers to the inability of the penis to achieve or maintain a sufficient erection to enjoy a satisfactory sexual life, abbreviated as ED. Generally speaking, congenital erectile dysfunction is rare, and the vast majority of patients are caused by surgical treatment and bad living habits.

Or, although there is an erection and a certain degree of hardness, it cannot maintain a sufficient time for sexual intercourse, thus hindering sexual intercourse or failing to complete sexual intercourse. This is the most common male sexual dysfunction. Occasionally, 1-2 sexual intercourse failures cannot be considered as impotence. Impotence can only be diagnosed when the sexual intercourse failure rate exceeds 25%.

ED can be divided into:

1. Psychological ED: refers to erectile dysfunction caused by psychological factors such as tension, stress, depression, anxiety and marital discord.

2. Organic ED:

(1) Vascular causes: including any disease that may lead to decreased blood flow in the corpus cavernosum arteries of the penis, such as atherosclerosis, arterial injury, arterial stenosis, pudendal artery shunt, and abnormal heart function, or penile venous leakage caused by decreased smooth muscle in the tunica albuginea and sinus cavernosum of the penis that obstruct the closure mechanism of venous reflux.

(2) Neurological causes: Central or peripheral nerve disease or damage can lead to erectile dysfunction.

(3) Surgery and trauma: Surgery such as major vascular surgery, radical prostatectomy, radical abdominoperineal rectal cancer surgery, and pelvic fractures and lumbar compression fractures can cause damage to the blood vessels and nerves related to the penis, leading to erectile dysfunction.

(4) Diseases of the penis itself: such as penile induration, penile curvature deformity, severe phimosis and glansitis caused by foreskin feeding.

3. Mixed ED: refers to erectile dysfunction caused by both psychological factors and organic factors.
