Itchy peeling skin around the penis

The penis is a part of the male reproductive system and is extremely important to men. When a man's penis becomes itchy, the first thing to do is to find the cause and then receive appropriate treatment. In fact, itching and peeling of the penis may be caused by bacterial infection or recent allergies in the body, so preventive measures must be taken in a timely manner.

Why is the penis itchy?

The area between the male glans and foreskin often forms an environment suitable for bacteria to survive for various reasons. If it is not cleaned in time, the bacteria are likely to cause inflammation. When the penis is slightly injured, infection is more likely to occur. Penile itching brings great inconvenience to the patient's life, and of course it will affect the health of men. Immediate examination and treatment is the correct approach.

What is the cause of penile itching? The causes of penile itching are complicated, including internal factors and external factors. People with allergic constitutions, people with long-term mental tension, and people with large emotional fluctuations are prone to penile itching; in addition, people with some diseases, such as chronic digestive system diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, endocrine disorders, and metabolic disorders, are also affected by external factors.

There are five main reasons for penile itching:

1. Contact dermatitis: A small number of men with allergic constitutions may develop dermatitis reactions such as erythema and papules on the skin in contact with the underwear, causing itching, because the clothes are close to the perineal skin and the area is easily soaked by sweat.

2. Balanitis: Most men with excessive foreskin or phimosis suffer from chronic inflammatory reactions due to the accumulation of smegma in the coronal sulcus of the foreskin, and there is often a local itchy feeling.

3. Pubic lice: Pubic lice have special hook-shaped claws that grab the skin in the pubic area and the sweat hair around the anus. Their bites and the stimulation of their saliva toxins can cause local skin itching, folliculitis, and eczema-like changes.

4. Tinea cruris and tinea glutealis: Men with obese and sweaty physiques are prone to fungal growth and reproduction due to their sweaty and moist vulva, which can lead to tinea cruris and tinea glutealis. The symptoms are ring-shaped red papules at the base of the thigh or buttocks, which often cause scaling and itching.

The above is a detailed introduction to the causes of penile itching. Many of the causes are caused by genital infections, some are caused by glansitis, and some are caused by pubic lice. In daily life, you must pay attention to personal private hygiene to prevent penile itching. (Intern editor: Yu Sheng)
