How to treat testicular atrophy caused by mumps

The occurrence of mumps will have a certain impact on many patients. For example, the pain in the cheeks affects the oral bite movement. If mumps is not treated properly, it will also cause orchitis, and there is a certain probability of testicular atrophy. If testicular atrophy is caused by mumps, it can be treated by traditional Chinese medicine.

Key points of diagnosis

Testicular atrophy is called "ziwei" in traditional Chinese medicine. It may be caused by congenital deficiency, kidney qi deficiency, testicular malnutrition, or first suffering from ziyun, and the remaining evil has not been completely eliminated, the testicles lack moisture, or liver qi stagnation, blood stasis, and inability to nourish the testicles and atrophy.

Modern medicine believes that testicular atrophy has two factors: congenital and acquired. Congenital factors include cryptorchidism and congenital malformations, while acquired factors include testicular trauma, torsion, inflammation, and tumors. In addition, aging, long-term high fever, vitamin deficiency, cirrhosis, thyroid insufficiency, pituitary and hypothalamic diseases can also lead to testicular atrophy. Systemic infection can also spread to the testicles through the blood or other routes, causing this complication, such as chickenpox, malaria, syphilis, infectious mononucleosis, filariasis, etc. In addition, radiation damage to the testicles is a permanent damage to the reproductive epithelium. The tubules only have Sereoli cells, which progressively atrophy and become smaller, and the capsule thickens and hardens, which can also cause testicular atrophy.

Treatment of testicular atrophy

Bilateral testicular atrophy may lead to infertility, in which case severe damage to the spermatogenic epithelium can be seen. Therefore, unilateral testicular damage can still result in fertility, but bilateral damage can cause oligospermia or azoospermia. Orchitis or epididymitis caused by gonorrhea can lead to testicular dysfunction and partial or complete epididymal obstruction.

As long as the testicular damage is not "fatal" and is only partial, normal reproductive function can be restored through treatment. For those whose testicles have completely lost their function, treatment should be abandoned and artificial insemination should be used to reproduce.

No matter what the situation is, you should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time, because this is a serious disease, and the doctor needs to understand the actual situation before he can have the best treatment plan.
