What causes eczema in men?

The occurrence of eczema has a great impact on people's bodies, so it is necessary for everyone to understand some issues about eczema prevention and know how eczema should be treated. For example, there are many causes of eczema in men. The most common one is that it may be related to the individual's physical constitution. In addition, some bad habits in life are also the main factors leading to the occurrence of eczema.

Pathological etiology

The causes and triggering factors of eczema often vary due to individual factors and different stages of the disease, so it is difficult to determine. The triggering factors can be divided into external factors and internal factors. The former are common in food such as fish, shrimp, etc., inhaled such as pollen, dust mites, wool, etc., microorganisms such as surface pyogenic cocci and superficial fungal infections, living environment such as sunlight, heat, dryness, various animal fur, dandruff, etc. , and various chemical substances such as cosmetics, soaps, synthetic fibers, etc.; internal factors such as chronic infection lesions, chronic cholecystitis, tonsillitis, intestinal parasites; endocrine and metabolic changes such as menstrual cycle, pregnancy and other factors; common circulatory disorders such as calf varicose veins induce calf eczema; neuropsychiatric factors are also closely related to the occurrence of this disease, such as mental tension and excessive fatigue.

An individual's susceptibility or tolerance to various factors may also be enhanced or weakened by physiological or pathophysiological influences. In the same environment and conditions, some people are prone to eczema while others do not. Some factors, under certain conditions, may aggravate the patient's condition, but under other circumstances do not cause recurrence of the disease. Based on clinical manifestations, disease course and tissue pathology, the pathogenesis of some patients may be related to delayed allergic reactions.

Disease Diagnosis

Based on the polymorphism of the primary eruption of skin lesions in the acute phase, easy to have exudate, severe itching, symmetrical attacks and the infiltration and hypertrophy in the chronic phase, it is not difficult to diagnose. Acute eczema needs to be distinguished from contact dermatitis, and chronic eczema needs to be distinguished from neurodermatitis. Hand and foot eczema is easily confused with tinea pedis, the latter of which often starts unilaterally, progresses slowly, and may have small pimples and dry scaling. When it spreads to the hands and dorsum of the feet and clear-cut lesions appear, it has great diagnostic value and can be confirmed when the fungal test is positive.

Differentiation between acute eczema and contact dermatitis

The cause of acute eczematous contact dermatitis is often unclear. It is often found that the pathogenic external factors damage the primary polymorphic rash, which is relatively simple and has clear borders. The site of onset is symmetrical and widespread and limited to the contact site. The course of the disease is often delayed and recurrent. It heals quickly after the cause is removed.

Differentiation between chronic eczema and neurodermatitis

Chronic eczematous neurodermatitis often develops from acute stage. Itching is the main symptom. The lesions are dark red, with obvious infiltration and hypertrophy, increased pigmentation, and small papules on the periphery. The papules are close to normal skin color and have obvious lichenification. The periphery may have normal skin color. Flat papules are distributed on the face, hands, feet, limbs, trunk and vulva. They are prone to occur on the neck, sacrum, limbs and extensor side of the limbs.
