1. Push method

Manipulation: Use fingers, palms, elbows, etc. to apply force in a single direction on a certain part, which is called pushing. When operating, fingers, palms, elbows, etc. should be close to the body surface, move slowly, and apply force evenly and thoroughly.

Effect: It has the functions of eliminating stagnation, relieving spasm and pain, eliminating blood stasis and dispersing nodules, and dredge meridians and regulate tendons. It can increase muscle excitability and promote blood circulation.

2. How to take

Technique: Use the thumb and the index and middle fingers, or the thumb and the other four fingers to exert relative force, and pinch and lift certain parts and acupoints in a tight and loose manner, which is called the "na method". The force should be from light to heavy, continuous and rhythmic, gentle and consistent, and the contact point should be on the finger pulp rather than the finger tip, and the wrist should be relaxed.

Function: The holding method has strong stimulation, and is often used in conjunction with other techniques on the neck, shoulders, limbs and other parts of the body. It has the functions of dispelling wind and cold, relaxing muscles and collaterals, relieving spasms, eliminating muscle soreness and mental fatigue, and is often used in cervical spine massage.

3. Pressing method

Technique: Pressing the body surface with fingers, palms, elbows, etc. is called pressing. The force should be from light to heavy, steady and continuous, vertically downward, and no force should be used. The point of force should be fixed and immovable.

Effect: Pressing is a strong stimulating technique that can calm and relieve pain, open blockages, and relax muscles. Finger pressing is suitable for acupuncture points all over the body; palm pressing is often used on the waist, back, and lower limbs; elbow pressing has the greatest pressure and is mostly used on the waist, back, buttocks, and thighs.

4. Mo Fa

Manipulation: Attach your fingers and palms to a certain part and make a rotating motion, which is called massage. The elbow joint should be naturally bent, the wrist should be relaxed, the fingers and palms should be naturally straightened, the movement should be gentle, and a certain rhythm should be maintained.

Effect: This method provides gentle stimulation, and combined with a lubricating massage agent, it can effectively improve the skin condition of patients with cervical spondylosis.

5. Kneading

Technique: With the natural swing of the forearm and wrist, apply rotational pressure to certain parts or acupoints through the fingers, thenar lobe, palm, etc., which is called kneading.

Effect: This method is gentle and mild, with little stimulation. It is suitable for all parts of the body. It has the effects of relaxing muscles and tendons, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, eliminating accumulation and relieving stagnation, relieving muscle spasm, and softening scars.
