The causes of subacute eczema are complex. How should it be treated?

There are many common skin diseases in life, eczema is one of them, but compared with common skin diseases, the biggest feature of eczema is dermatitis. There are many types of eczema, including acute eczema, subacute eczema, etc. Although the cause of subacute eczema is more complicated, it also has very ideal treatment methods.

1. General prevention and control principles

(1) To find the cause of the disease as much as possible, it is necessary to have an in-depth understanding of the patient's work environment, living habits, diet, hobbies, thoughts and emotions, and conduct a comprehensive examination of the entire city to check for chronic lesions and internal organ diseases in order to eliminate possible pathogenic factors.

(2) Avoid all kinds of external stimulation, such as hot water washing, violent scratching, excessive washing, and other substances that the patient is sensitive to, such as fur products.

(3) Avoid allergenic and irritating foods, such as fish, shrimp, strong tea, coffee, alcohol, etc.

(4) Explain the key points of protection to the patient in detail, provide guidance on medication, and encourage the patient to cooperate with medical staff to give full play to the patient’s subjective initiative.

2. Drug treatment

(1) Antihistamines can be used for internal medication to relieve itching. In case of acute or subacute generalized eczema, 5% calcium bromide, 10% calcium gluconate or 10% sodium thiosulfate solution can be intravenously infused once a day, 10 times as a course of treatment. For patients with widespread infection, effective antibiotics should be used in combination. In addition, vitamin B group, vitamin C and drugs that regulate nerve function are also helpful.

Oral or injection of glucocorticoids is generally not recommended. Although this drug has a quick effect on reducing inflammation, relieving itching and reducing exudation, it will recur soon after discontinuation, and long-term use is prone to cause many adverse reactions. Elderly people with eczema are prone to develop secondary erythroderma after abusing glucocorticoids.

(2) The principles of topical medication are the same as those for contact dermatitis. Choose the appropriate dosage form and medication according to the skin damage. For small-scale subacute eczema, glucocorticoid creams and topical tar preparations are more effective.

(3) The traditional Chinese medicine treatment of subacute eczema focuses on strengthening the spleen and promoting the flow of dampness, while also clearing away heat. The prescription is preferably Wei Ling Tang with modifications.
