This can also happen to your mouth if you have AIDS!

After being infected with HIV, there are generally no obvious symptoms. Instead, obvious symptoms will only appear after the incubation period. During this period, many people do not know that they are already sick, so they will continue to spread the virus. What are the oral symptoms in the early stages of AIDS?

1. Candidiasis:

Candidiasis is the most common oral manifestation of AIDS. In high-risk groups, such as those with a history of sexual promiscuity, drug abuse, and intravenous transfusion, oral candidiasis is a precursor to the development of AIDS in the future; if healthy young people without any inducement have oral candidiasis in their mouths, especially erythematous candidiasis of the cheeks or pseudomembranous candidiasis of the pharynx and soft palate, they should be highly alert to oral manifestations of AIDS.

2. Hairy leukoplakia on the tongue:

Hairy leukoplakia is now widely recognized as a special oral lesion in people infected with HIV. It is highly suggestive of the occurrence of AIDS. Other diseases rarely cause hairy leukoplakia.

3. AIDS-related periodontal disease:

HIV-infected people and AIDS patients may develop a series of periodontal tissue diseases, the most common of which are: 1. Gum linear erythema: often manifested as obvious fiery red linear congestion at the gingival margin, with clear boundaries, spontaneous gingival bleeding or bleeding after brushing. Local oral treatment is ineffective. 2. Acute necrotic gingivitis, periodontitis, necrotic stomatitis, gingival ulceration, necrosis, alveolar bone destruction, accompanied by obvious pain in a short period of time (within 4 weeks).

4. Kaposi's sarcoma

Kaposi's sarcoma is also called multiple, idiopathic, hemorrhagic sarcoma. The tumor is commonly found on the skin of the head, neck and limbs, and occasionally in the internal organs. Half of the patients have oral lesions, which are painless, purple-red or purple-brown, flat or raised lesions of varying sizes and shapes. The gums and hard and soft palates are the most common sites. It is generally believed that when Kaposi's sarcoma lesions appear in patients who have not used immunosuppressants, it can basically be diagnosed as AIDS. Kaposi's sarcoma is the most common tumor in AIDS patients.
