How to test for HIV? Just follow these three steps at home

AIDS is a kind of sexually transmitted disease, but before AIDS is confirmed clinically, it needs to be tested accordingly. We can also detect the disease at home through testing. So, how should AIDS be tested?

Step 1: Check the HIV test strip

To facilitate everyone's operation, the HIV test strips are placed in a plastic holder, which is more convenient to use. The detection principle remains unchanged and is still the double antigen sandwich method.

The description of each part is as follows: the small round hole (S area) is the sample addition hole, and the blood drop to be tested should be dropped into this hole. The narrow and long concave area is the judgment result area, among which T is the position of the test line and C is the position of the control line.

Step 2: Blood collection

Blood collection equipment: blood collection needle (medium-thick sewing needle can also be used), alcohol, cotton balls.

Blood collection site: fingertips or earlobes. Blood collection method: first disinfect the blood collection site and blood collection needle with alcohol cotton balls, then prepare.

Note: The first drop of blood should be discarded, and the second and third drops of blood should be used for testing. The blood drop should be dripped directly into the sample well, or first sucked into a clean pipette and then dripped into the sample well.

Step 3: Interpret the results

Observe the results within 10-15 minutes after adding the sample.

1. If only one red line (control line C) appears on the test paper, it is a negative result;

2. Two red lines appear on the test paper (control line C and test line T) indicating a positive result;

3. If no red line appears on the test paper, it means the test has failed. Please take another card and retest.

It should be pointed out that since any test experiment has "false positive" results, don't be nervous if a positive result appears. You can go to the local CDC for confirmation or consult us. Of course, all this is confidential. For negative results, if a negative result is detected after the "window period", it means that you are not infected with HIV and you can rest assured.
