What is visceral fat and how to lose it?

As we all know, the main cause of obesity is too much fat in the body. So if you want to lose weight, you must first start by removing the fat in the body. So how should you lose fat?

What is visceral fat?

Visceral fat is a type of body fat. Unlike subcutaneous fat (the "fat" we usually know as the body's touchable fat), visceral fat surrounds the body's internal organs and is mainly found in the abdominal cavity.

The role of visceral fat

A certain amount of visceral fat is actually necessary for the human body, because visceral fat surrounds the human organs and plays a supporting, stabilizing and protective role for the human internal organs.

The dangers of visceral fat

Excessive visceral fat is a manifestation of metabolic disorder. Long-term visceral fat can lead to complications such as high blood lipids, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and decreased organ function. In modern society, many people with excessive visceral fat may appear obese, but they may also be thin. Especially office workers and middle-aged and elderly people, many of them need to "lose weight" for their visceral fat!

Scientific research has found that there is a concurrent relationship between visceral fat and subcutaneous fat. Visceral fat can easily lead to an increase in subcutaneous fat. This is the fundamental reason why many obese people want to lose weight through various forms such as slimming drugs, but they easily rebound in the end. If visceral fat is not reduced, only subcutaneous fat is reduced, which is equivalent to treating the symptoms but not the root cause, and is also an unhealthy way to lose weight.

How to reduce visceral fat?

To reduce visceral fat, you need to pay attention to the following three points:

1. Increase exercise

Do at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise every day, such as jogging, brisk walking, skipping rope, cycling, etc.

2. Eat foods that “remove visceral fat”

(1) Sweet potato

Sweet potato is sweet potato, also known as yam, red taro, sweet potato, sweet potato, white potato, white taro, sweet potato, red potato, etc., with different names in different regions. People in Shandong call it sweet potato, people in Sichuan call it red potato, people in Beijing call it white potato, and people in Fujian call it sweet potato.

It can neutralize the excess acid produced by eating too much meat and eggs in the body and maintain the body's acid-base balance. Sweet potatoes also contain more fiber, which can lubricate the digestive tract, have a laxative effect, and can excrete excess fat, sugar, and toxins in the intestines, playing a lipid-lowering role.

(2) Oats

Contains extremely rich linoleic acid and saponins, which can lower serum cholesterol and triglycerides.

(3) Corn

It is rich in nutrients such as calcium, selenium, lecithin, vitamin E, etc., and has the effect of lowering serum cholesterol.

(4) Kelp

It is rich in taurine, which can lower the cholesterol in the blood and bile; the dietary fiber alginate it contains can inhibit the absorption of cholesterol.

3. Reduce carbohydrate intake

Foods containing carbohydrates are staple foods such as rice and bread. Excessive consumption of these foods will lead to excessive sugar being metabolized, which will cause visceral fat to accumulate in the abdominal cavity.

Of course, you can't completely stop eating, because when the carbohydrate intake is 0, the brain will be blank and you will not be able to really concentrate. For women, the amount of carbohydrate intake per day is about 100 grams, and the ratio of three meals is 5:3:2, which is the golden ratio that is more conducive to digestion and metabolism.
