What to do if your coccyx is fractured? How to treat coccyx fracture?

Some people think that if the coccyx is mild, it does not need to be treated and it will be fine after a few days of rest. If you continue to work and exercise as usual, it will cause a fracture over time. At this time, it will be difficult to treat. If a coccyx fracture occurs, how should it be treated?

Coccyx Fracture Symptoms

1. Coccygeal pain: The pain is generally tolerable and accompanied by direct or simple pressure pain. Severe cases may affect bowel movements. Patients often do not like sitting or even refuse to sit because of coccygeal pain.

2. Local congestion: It is usually not obvious in the early stage after injury and is only seen when violence directly acts on the local area; but it becomes clearly visible several days after the injury.

3. Anal indication: In addition to direct tenderness, strong simple tenderness and tension pain may occur when the end of the coccyx is touched. This is very helpful for diagnosis, especially in the early stage after injury, and it can be used to determine whether it is a new fracture.

How to Treat a Coccyx Fracture

For a very small number of patients whose symptoms remain the same after a few months, closed therapy can be used. If the effect is still not good after local skin disinfection, surgery is used to remove the coccyx. Since the coccyx has little physiological function, there is almost no effect after removal.

Note: Sleeping on your back will compress your coccyx, which will aggravate the symptoms. You can change to sleeping on your side. Sitting on a chair or sofa will inevitably compress your coccyx. You can put an air cushion on your buttocks, or sit on a narrow bench to free your coccyx and avoid pressure. Eat a light diet.
