What are the symptoms of balanitis?

Many men do not pay attention to hygiene or often wear hard jeans, which causes the glans to be constantly rubbed. Some people are allergic to condoms and other reasons. Over time, this may cause glans inflammation. There are different types of glans inflammation according to symptoms, but because people do not have enough knowledge about this disease, they often cannot distinguish them. So I will introduce it to you.

Acute superficial galactitis

It is often caused by local physical factors such as excessive or poorly turned foreskin, trauma, friction, condoms, soap and detergents that cause local irritation. Clinical manifestations include local edema, erythema, erosion, exudation and bleeding. In severe cases, blisters may occur and require drug treatment. Secondary bacterial infection will form an ulcer surface with purulent secretions.

Cytomegalic balanitis

It is more common in middle-aged patients, with single or multiple localized dark red plaques that do not fade for a long time and heal slowly. The surface may be smooth, scaly, or moist, with obvious infiltration, generally clear edges, and no ulcers. Sometimes the appearance is very similar to the proliferative erythema of the glans penis. The pathological changes have diagnostic value, characterized by epidermal cell hyperplasia, flattened epidermal protuberances, and a large number of plasma cell infiltration in the dermis, dilated capillaries, and hemosiderin deposition.

Annular ulcerative glans

Clinically, it can exist independently or be a mucosal symptom of Reiter's disease. The clinical manifestations are erythema on the glans and foreskin, which gradually expands and becomes annular or multi-annular, and later forms a superficial ulcer. In patients with poor foreskin reversal, secretions accumulate locally, which often leads to secondary infection and aggravates the symptoms. At this time, the annular characteristics are lost and it is difficult to distinguish it from superficial balanitis.

The above are three different manifestations of balanitis. I hope that through the editor's introduction, everyone can have a simple understanding of balanitis. No matter which type of balanitis it is, as long as you find that your glans has uncomfortable symptoms, you should pay attention to seek medical treatment in time to avoid further aggravation of the disease and make it more difficult to treat.
