What medicine should I use for redness, swelling and inflammation of the glans penis?

The glans penis is inflamed due to various reasons (including bacteria, viruses, and trichomonas, etc.). The main symptoms may include redness and swelling of the glans penis, white discharge, erythema, ulcers, and discomfort such as itching and pain. Patients with glans inflammation may also have balanitis. Long foreskin, excessive foreskin, poor hygiene and hygienic environment, irregular sexual partners or high-risk sexual life, and other local infections, as well as other causes of the disease.

Medical treatment:

1. Bacterial infection of glans: There may be swelling and pain, accompanied by purulent secretions, and ulcers and other discomforts. The diagnosis and treatment of glans inflammation are based on the type of bacteria. Generally, local antibiotics such as erythromycin ointment, Bactroban, etc. are used. For treatment, local pain antiviral ointment such as acyclovir cream can be used for treatment, and oral medications such as acyclovir, ganciclovir, etc. can be added for treatment. More serious patients can have intravenous antiviral treatment, and at the same time, medication to enhance immunity can be added.

4. Candidal balanitis: There may be discomfort such as erythema, small blisters, erosion and other discomforts on the glans. After diagnosis, there will be oral administration of ornidazole for treatment. Some people should apply ethacridine lotion on the face.

For patients with other specific types of glansitis, targeted treatment can be provided based on test results and clinical symptoms.

Prevention: Pay attention to personal hygiene and the hygiene of the sexual environment, maintain a fixed sexual partner, and if you have a long foreskin, consider circumcision to reduce the chance of infection.
