Treatment of acute superficial balanitis

Treatment of acute superficial balanitis

With the continuous progress of society, many people's minds have become more and more open, and they are also more open about sex life. We all know that unhealthy sex life and having multiple sexual partners can lead to many male and gynecological diseases. Among them, acute superficial balanitis is a common infectious male disease in life. When such a disease occurs, it must be treated in time. Let us learn about the treatment of acute superficial balanitis.

Treatment of acute superficial balanitis

1. Avoid eating irritating foods, smoking and drinking. Keep the area clean and hygienic to avoid irritation.

2. Local treatment. When the condition is mild, you can soak it in 1/5000 potassium permanganate solution twice a day. When soaking, try to turn up the foreskin and clean the exudate or pus on the inner surface of the foreskin cavity. After soaking, wear clean clothes and pants to keep it clean and dry. If the foreskin cannot be turned up, wipe it with a sterile cotton swab, and do not force it to avoid foreskin incarceration. For those with erosive exudate, use potassium permanganate solution or 0.1% Revol solution for wet compress. If there is an ulcerated surface, local bandage may be required, and the dressing should be changed every day. Avoid using various oils or powders to avoid local irritation that aggravates the symptoms. The effect of soaking or wet compressing with Chinese medicine preparations is remarkable.

3. For those with clear etiology, special treatment should be given to the causative factors. For example, oral metronidazole or tinidazole can be given for trichomonal balanitis.

4. For patients with obvious infection accompanied by fever and lymphadenopathy, systemic antibiotics can be applied.

5. For those with prepuce that is too long or phimosis, circumcision should be performed after the acute inflammation is under control.

Prognosis

With active treatment, acute superficial balanoposthitis has a good prognosis and can generally be completely cured in about a week. If there are predisposing factors such as excessive foreskin, phimosis, diabetes, etc., it is easy to relapse.

Prevention

1. Pay attention to local hygiene. Wash the glans and foreskin with clean water frequently. Do not use strong soapy water, soapy water or lotion to wash. Keep the foreskin cavity clean and dry. Change underwear frequently and fix your own bathtub and towel. If there is phimosis or foreskin is too long and repeatedly infected, perform circumcision as soon as possible after the infection is cured.

2. Balanitis should be treated promptly, otherwise it will recur. Diabetic patients should actively control blood sugar and check the condition of the penis frequently.

3. Avoid unclean sexual intercourse and keep yourself clean.

4. Don’t wear tight pants, loose cotton pants are best.

In our daily life, many people suffer from acute superficial balanitis, but they are always embarrassed to go to a regular hospital for treatment due to face. In fact, this idea is very wrong. Timely treatment is necessary to help recovery when the disease occurs. In addition, we must pay attention to sexual hygiene in daily life and not have multiple sexual partners. At the same time, people with acute superficial balanitis must take safety measures during sexual life to avoid cross infection.
