The International Health Organization stipulates that the sperm count of men should not be less than 20 million per milliliter. If it is less than 20 million, it is considered oligospermia, which will have a great impact on fertility. Between less than 20 million and more than 10 million, it is called mild oligospermia; less than 10 million and more than 5 million, it is called moderate oligospermia; less than 5 million is called severe oligospermia; if only a few sperm can be found under high-powered vision, or only a few sperm can be seen after centrifugation, it is called severe oligospermia. In recent years, the quality of human sperm has been declining due to the environment, pollution from estrogen-like toxins and other factors. There are many factors that lead to oligospermia, including inflammation, drug effects; alcoholism, excessive smoking, and drugs can inhibit sperm production; prostatitis, varicocele, etc. can inhibit sperm production. The specific factors are as follows: 1. Endocrine abnormalities Normal spermatogenesis in men depends on the normal function of the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonad axis. Any disorder in any of these links will affect spermatogenesis. Other diseases such as thyroid and adrenal gland diseases will also affect gonad function and cause oligospermia.
2. Hidden testicles Studies have reported that about 30% to 60% of patients with unilateral cryptorchidism are infertile, and 50% to 100% of patients with bilateral cryptorchidism are infertile. Among oligospermia patients, cryptorchidism accounts for about 9%. In addition to the degeneration of the seminiferous tubules affecting spermatogenesis, the fully descended testicle on the other side may also be damaged to varying degrees. The reason may be that the anti-sperm antibodies produced by the cryptorchidism affect the normal testicle.
3 Urogenital system inflammation Including orchitis, epididymitis, seminal vesiculitis, prostatitis, urethritis, etc. This type of patients accounts for the largest proportion in oligospermia. Urogenital tract inflammation can directly affect the spermatogenesis of the testicles, and can also produce antisperm antibodies in the blood or semen, affecting the acidity and alkalinity of semen. In addition, the pathogens directly kill sperm, which can cause a decrease in sperm.
4 Varicose vein Infertility caused by varicocele accounts for 30% to 40% of male infertility. Due to the increase in testicular temperature and toxin accumulation, the testicular spermatogenesis function is affected, causing oligospermia, and in severe cases, azoospermia. The initial symptoms of varicocele are not obvious. In severe cases, the scrotum may swell and have worm-like blood vessels protruding from it. Semen examination shows that the number of sperm decreases, the motility is poor, and the number of abnormal sperm increases.
5. Scrotal temperature is too high The seminiferous tubules in the testicles that are used to produce sperm are very sensitive to temperature changes. The suitable temperature of this part is 2-3℃ lower than the human body temperature. Too high a temperature can easily inhibit the survival and maturation of sperm, resulting in a decrease in the number of sperm in semen or a decrease in their motility. Therefore, male friends should wear less tight pants, take fewer saunas, avoid electromagnetic radiation and high temperatures, and develop good living habits. |
